Saudi crown prince to visit China
15 Feb 2019 05:54PM (Updated: 15 Feb 2019 05:56PM)

BEIJING: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will visit China next week, Beijing's foreign ministry said on Friday (Feb 15), as part of a swing through Asia in which the monarch is expected to sign an investment package with cash-strapped Pakistan.

The Saudi Arabian leader, will visit next Thursday and Friday and will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vice Premier Han Zheng.

The visit will seek to "promote the greater development of Sino-Saudi relations" and "deepen cooperation" on China's "Belt and Road" economic and trade diplomacy initiative, foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said at a daily press briefing.

The trip comes as the world's top crude exporter has been investing heavily in refinery and petrochemicals projects across the globe to secure long-term buyers of its oil.

He will also make stops in Pakistan, India, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The crown prince visits Pakistan over the weekend, with the two countries reportedly planning to sign a number of agreements.

These include deals for a US$10 billion oil and refining complex in Pakistan's strategic port of Gwadar on the Arabian Sea.

Gwadar figures prominently in plans for the massive multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a collection of infrastructure projects seen as a key plank in the Belt and Road initiative.

The Chinese-led initiative involves investments worth some US$60 billion in projects in a range of countries.

Great step, the two countries who are investing massive FDI in Pakistan should go into strategic partnership to counter non regional powers like US and keep India in check.

This is very very good two friends of pakistan coming together!

I hope UAE and turkey also come and join china in many partnerships. This will make them china and pakistan very strong friends and countries. I hope they can be good friends to chinese.

Maybe this time this Saudi prince will make a bigger investment/trade-deal with Indonesia than China so Jokowi won't be disappointed and upset.

Disappointed’: Jokowi upset that Saudi invests in China more than Indonesia
https://asiancorrespondent.com/2017/04/disappointed-jokowi-upset-saudi-invests-china-indonesia/

According to the Jakarta Post, Jokowi said he was “surprised” at the investment in China, which amounted to nearly 10 times the RP89 trillion (US$6.71 billion) pledged to Indonesia.

invest more in Indonesia than they did in China. Indonesian ministers were anticipating an investment of at least US$25 billion from Saudi Arabia prior to the king’s visit – making the actual amount a major letdown.

Jokowi really needs to take another lesson on international economic and politics.

That article read like an onion article.
Wtf does he expect in the end he only cares about ROI

seem trip to India, Malaysia and Indonesia cancelled.

Good for both Saudi and China, partnership and cooperation is the right way!

Meanwhile indians and turks will be mad and jealous again after learning that more countries prefer doing business with China.

.
Any new deals expected to be signed between China and Saudi Arabia?

Last I read, Saudi-Sino bilateral trade increased from $10 billion in 2007 to $100 billion in 2017.

Need to look at this trip from a larger perspective, as far as China's ME policy is concerned.

China is not taking sides or taking any ideological stance. Good relations with the KSA do not come at the cost of bad relations with other regional actors.

BEIJING, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday met with visiting Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

No matter how the international and regional situation changes, China's resolve to develop a comprehensive strategic partnership with Iran will remain unchanged, Xi said during the meeting, hailing that China and Iran have a long history of friendship and share long-tested mutual trust and friendship.

Under the new situation, China and Iran should further deepen strategic mutual trust and continue to extend mutual understanding and support on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, said Xi.

The Chinese president called on both sides to step up communication and coordination, meet each other halfway to properly advance their pragmatic cooperation, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in such areas as security, countering terrorism and culture.

Xi called for collaboration and coordination within multilateral frameworks, so as to jointly promote the building of a new type of international relations and foster a community with a shared future for humanity.

Exchanges between legislative bodies of the two countries are an important part of the comprehensive strategic partnership, Xi said, calling on the National People's Congress of China and Iranian Parliament to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, learn from each other's experience in state governance, cement communication and coordination in international and regional organizations, and play a bigger role in promoting bilateral relations.

China always concerns itself with regional peace and advocates cooperation among international and regional parties to put Middle East on the road of stability and development at an early date, Xi said.

"We support Iran in playing a constructive role in maintaining regional peace and stability and are willing to ly communicate and coordinate with Iran on regional issues," he added.

Larijani conveyed cordial greetings from Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to President Xi.

He said Iran views and develops relations with China from a strategic and long-term perspective. Strengthening bilateral friendly cooperation is not only in the fundamental interests of the two countries but also important for peace, stability and development in Asia and the world.

Under the new situation, Iran is willing to deepen political mutual trust with China, promote pragmatic cooperation and increase mutual support in international and regional affairs, said Larijani.

As long as they (Turkey) support the Uighurs, they will always remain our customers and not our ally.
