Just because it is a minor sign of end times does not make the building a bad thing. What's more important is the moral corruption among Muslims which is at high levels irregardless of our ethnic backgrounds. Arab is not worse than Asian in this regard. The moral corruption is widespread and God will give us cold shoulder until we change, he is ready at any moment to give us prosperity, peace, victory, moral and healthy society once we demand it from him. But reality is majority of Muslims don't value Islamic tenets, honesty, morality, etc...they prefer drama, moral corruption, backstabbing, nationalism, modern lifestyle, etc....

I assume the Saudis are building this tower for recognition as an advanced modern society not because they really need a 1km needle when they have miles and miles of desert to build over.

This tower is not going to get them that recognition any more than the hundreds of millions of dollars they spend in Washington on PR has given them a good image. Everyone knows the architects, the engineers and the labor is imported.

Ultimately if you want acknowledgement as a modern first world society, you have to do the heavy lifting. Saudi cannot do that while disallowing women from driving or mistreating immigrant labor. They cannot do it when their young people are too lazy to be innovative or take academically challenging STEM Courses. Money cannot solve everything.
