Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry — DawnNewsTV

Saudi Arabia will be the third member of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Minister of Information Fawad Chaudhry said on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad regarding Prime Minister Imran Khan's two-day visit to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE), Chaudhry said that Pakistan's main interest lies in cooperation with Saudi Arabia on matters of trade and security.

"A high-level coordination committee has has been constituted [to look into matters of trade and commerce] and it has the complete backing of Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud and PM Khan," Fawad Chaudhry said while adding the two countries finalise an important economic partnership during this visit.

He also announced that high-level delegations from Saudi Arabia and UAE will visit Pakistan to discuss trade and security in October.

ARTICLE CONTINUES AFTER AD
He said that Saudi Arabia is the first country that Pakistan has invited to become a third partner in CPEC and the projects that Saudi Arabia would be investing in will be smoothed out during the Saudi delegation's visit, scheduled for the first week of October.

"We have also assured the Saudi leadership that we will continue to provide security to their country and provide strategic support wherever needed," Chaudhry said.

The information minister said that while in Abu Dhabi, the Pakistani delegation met with Crown Prince Muhammad bin Zaid and matters of mutual interest were discussed.

"I should mention here that the relations between Pakistan and UAE and Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were going through a cold phase for the past few years and this visit changed that," the information minister said.

He added that the complications surrounding the procurement of UAE visas will soon be resolved as the matter came into discussion during this visit.

"The foreign office will soon send a proposal to UAE and it is expected to resolve these issues for the thousands of Pakistanis that are dwelling in the Emirates," Chaudhry assured.

The article is full of contradictions. Keeps mentioning Saudi Arabia has been invited to become the third member while at the same time it says it's now officially a member.

I think it is time this guy was replaced. He is big bag of hot air ..... nothin but hot air comes out of this windbag. Like fcuk KSA is third part of CPEC.

.
Good news, CPEC definitely needs Saudia Arabia , if you could only review the article published in recent times,

Closer Ties: China And Saudi Arabia Sign $70 Billion in New Deals

China Is Eyeballing a Major Strategic Investment in Saudi Arabia’s Oil

Why China’s deals with Saudi Arabia could be the beginning of a profitable new relationship

China, Saudi Arabia upgrade diplomatic ties as Riyadh seeks new allies

Also Saudi Arabia's participation in CPEC is not because of Pakistan but more so because China is pushing for it. Interesting development indeed but certainly not unexpected. China's Belt and Road initiative will change the shape of billions across globe, Pakistan geographically being close to China would benefit most from it. Such massive economical paradigm shifts dont happen over night, they take time as they have solid foundations.

. .
Now people should understand why all of sudden yanks and their minion India have become hyper active against CPEC.

Saudi joining CPEC is huge. Saudi energy supply to West will now flow towards east, using CPEC. Once the infra is in place, next logical step would be to de-dollarise the energy trade, atleast towards eastern customers.

One would argue as to why China need Saudi oil when Russia is just next door. Two things, China would not like to keep all her eggs in one basket and getting SA towards its side would be huge considering the ongoing trade war between China and America. with SA on our side, most of the Arab world will get inline as well.

When Pakistan says that we will provide protection on both tactical and strategic levels, its not really against Iran but to ensure Saudis that we will not allow any regime change in Saudia when Saudis start to sell their oil to China in some mechanism other then American dollars.

.
More countries willing to join, We need to resolve complication of visas and ease them for our guests.
Saudi delegation will visit first week of October. We should ensure their security, provide them Peaceful & profitable environment to investors.

.
We have also assured the Saudi leadership that we will continue to provide security to their country and provide strategic support wherever needed,

I don't know if our gov. can have friendly relations with all. And did we forget who was the 1st country that didn't vote in our favor for FATF? Now what about relations with Iran now? Is our gov. competent enough to keep both Iran and Saudi's as friends? Are we now mercenaries for Saudi's again? Only time will tell but I am not that hopeful.

On the other hand there are internal issue's in Afghan gov. with their ambassador to India resigning(who is very inclined towards India and will probably run for elections next year in Afghanistan against Ghani) + other ministers resigning. Also our recent attitude towards India, which has been softening way too much.

I think the government/establishment is a little bit confused. We need to identify our strong allies and establish a strong relation with them first. Saudi's are not our strong allies they are like US, they leave us when they don't want us. FATF was a clear example how US pushed a few button and Saudi's changed their vote.

Relation with Saudi's also means we have to lose the chain for the Gunja gang(Nawaz) too, the dog's of Saudi's. Current voter turnout is 55%, ffs don't kill the hopes of people, we want accountability and we want those who looted our money to be accountable.
