1-Both Saudi Arabia and Iran are Highly Influenced Religious Establishments. Saudis are Wahabis who considers Shias as Loathsome and Subhumans.
Iran is a stalwart Shia country and they consider Wahabis as the Worst creatures and Heretics betrayers to Family of Prophet Muhammad.
2-Saudi Arabia is a strong Ally of USA while Iran on the polar opposite hates USA (Khumaini called USA "The Great Satan")
3-Saudis Supported Saddam Hussain During Iran-Iraq War
4-Both have Territorial Disputes and Rival Economies of the Gulf(Persian or Arab whatever you call it)
5-Both are interlocked in Sunni-Shai conflicts throughout the Islamic World
So its Literally a cold war due to many reasons

It is not Arabs vs Iranis thing. Iraq and Syria are Also Arabs but strong Allies of Iran. While all Non Arab Wahabis as well through out the World Hate Iran similar to Saudis Do.
