Saudi Arabia missing in Afghanistan?

.
Even Iran was able to gain some foothold in Afghanistan you can aee that by Taliban appointing Shia leaders in some provinces

I dont know why KSA has such a hands off approach

Another reason is also due to wait and see approach. Most nations are in wait and see position regarding to Taliban. Mostly they want to pressure Taliban to be more moderate in nature, allowing women to study, work, and see what they will do with minority like Hazara. Same here like Indonesia, we are in wait and see position to bring pressure to Taliban to keep their promise to be more moderate in governing Afghanistan

Saudis can provide 2 things to Afghanistan, 1) Oil 2) Employment to Afghans.

They will be hesitant to provide oil to them because of financial issues of Afghanistan because last thing they want right now during pandemic is to provide cheaper or free oil to somebody. Iran might help here though.

As for employments to Afghans, well, they will be very very cautious about it for 2 reasons; 1) Influx of Afghans to Saudi and some might be extremists 2) Many of them would refuse to go back.

And ofcourse then there is humanatarian help too which Afghans would be expecting from Saudis as they are richer, custodian of holy sites, spiritual leader of Ummah and all that. But Saudis will chicken out from here. Either no help would be provided and very little token amount.

All in all, during this pandemic crisis with Saudis aligning their policies further to 'western camp', they have either no interest or very little interest in this region. They will wait it out, see the situation where it is headed after few months and probably then make a little effortless move just for the heck of it.

3) Terrorism by Hajj and Oil money by Using Al Qaeda Natwork, ISIS

A passive policy results in your rivals getting the upper hand

This month, after the Taliban took control of the Afghan capital, Kabul, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry released a cautious statement saying, "The kingdom stands with the choices that the Afghan people make without interference."

why are we pakistanis so concerned about other countries and not our "own" interests?

I think previously saudi arabia was involved with mujahideen because of US. They played the role of giving the anti USSR force a religious look. The other benefit for saudi was that hardline sunni regime in Afghanistan would be an automatic check on Iran.
After the 911 and arab springs, things changed for saudi and UAE. Their focus is no more on religious sentiments and instead, following MBZ, saudi, Egypt and other GCC nations are looking towards india and israel. For this new alignment, they had to distance from Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Qatar and Turkey saw this as an opportunity and got involved and completely eliminated roles of saudi and UAE. The taliban also now doesn't trust UAE n saudi and have realized that they are mere puppets of the west. Its the reason why they rejected meeting in UAE earlier n insisted only meeting in Doha.

Strongly agree, many of my young Saudi friends are quite progressive as compared their parents which is a good thing. However, there are certain elements from the tribal culture of the Gulf that still exists in them and hopefully they will continue to exist. Also do note that I left KSA before MBS became crown prince.
@Wilhelm II Would you agree with my assessment?
I went there just when Abdullah was on his death bed and he expired in few months. I have seen the rapid transformation of the Kingdom before my eyes.

Same and my father, who spent +37 years over there saw them go from stone age to where they are now. My father saw the state of the kingdom where the people were piss poor to where they are now.

Saudis are now in the Zionist camp. They do not have an Afghan strategy or a horse in the game.

This is good .. because in the past the Saudi influence put the Taliban under the Wahaabi Al Qaeeda camp through their financial and ideological Takfiri influence.

The Saudis are now in the UAE/Bahrain/Egypt camp of appeasement of the Zionist-West for their Worldly Pleasures...

The next chapter for Saudi Arabia is the death of King Salman and the civil war between MBS vs. MBN
Ie. Muhammad Bin Salman (MBS) Vs. Mohammed bin Nayef (MBN)

The Taliban will be riding eastward with someone special with them around that time....

Jerusalem is to the west , not the east.

?... "Pakistan does not history subject"??

I guess India does not teach English grammar in the K-12 education?

I forgot the word "teach"

Does Pakistan even have history in their schools ?
why are we pakistanis so concerned about other countries and not our "own" interests?
because you are dependent on others for your financial survival

That's what every Looser says. Grapes are sour after all.

China and Pakistan have deliberately kept the Saudis out of A-Stan. Saudis are NOT important re: A-Stan.
Taliban present leadership is not happy with Suadi, the reason is US invasion of Afghanistan after 911 and in Osama issue, Saudi left them in the middle. They think they have been used by Saudi, otherwise KSA fully funded the First Afghan war.
