Saudi Arabia missing in Afghanistan?

Saudia won't help taliban this time because Pakistan didn't helped Saudia Arab over Yemen. Oil on deferred payment or aid in the form of oil would had helped a lot. Talibans economic challenge is eronomous, lets lot forget this.

Not true. Saudis are Wahaabi Salafi. The Taliban are mostly Hanafi. Very different school of thoughts.b

Those are just labels. In reality Taliban and Saudis societies share a communality in a very conservative code of practice how one lives under them this will connect there both countries to closer interests in there views to others

Every society has been "conservative" to date until post modern neo-liberal globalist social engineering creeps in....

I am just curious to know why Saudi Arabia is missing from the scene since Taliban took over?

Qatar who doest have good relations with Saudis , have been on the fore front for ages ( IEA has Doha office for almost 3 years now). Turkey another country with not so good relations with Saudis also taking part in supporting IEA future government, with Kabul airport technical support etc.

Why is Saudi Arabia completely quite on what has just happened in Afghanistan, also doesn't seem interested in future role. Saudi Arabia and OIC once used to take lead in such crisis is no where to be seen. Not good for their reputation, I must say.

they’re frightened of Taliban .
America getting a *** whipping and India running away like coward from Afghanistan has showed these Arabs the bed they sleep in is not protected

the holy lands need to be taken off the Arabs before the Saudi devils turn it into Las Vegas for rich tourists

Unfortunately under the Supreme Grand Idiot MBS, KSA is compromised. The idiot needs to retire.

i was very amazed to see the saudis establishment buckle so easily under this young pretender MBS. The u turns he had them do I’m sill surprised he’s in power with his head not chopped off. The Taliban victory statement for the Arabs Muslims, was actually aimed at the Saudis they seek them as a approval of Taliban others don’t matter. Pakistan will play 2nd fiddle to the Taliban wait and see

Saudi Arabia is retreating from most of the theatres. Without US support, the house of Saud is devoid of its ardent backers. Contrast the Qatari influence over the Taliban with the influence Saudis had over the Taliban during the 90s'. PS. Saudis have learned that backing Islamist jihadi regimes in the Muslim world backfires on them. They could make a comeback of some sort after an Afghan setup takes place via a humanitarian assistance channel and influence the Taliban through economic assistance.

Things have changed there. Saudia has a youth bulge like Pakistan. youth is forward-looking, not conservative. It desires changes. The Saudi society you are referring to is long gone. I have seen their recent transformation firsthand.

So can Iran and China.

Nothing else.

Silk Road 2.0. the richest historic trade route in history.

Tell us when Iran & China employ 4 million Pakistanis

Trade routes are a thing of the past when it comes to making money. I forget Pakistan does not history subject in their K-12 education

if you want to pull a Saddam/Kuwait on Saudi Arabia be my guest. USAF will have a chance to show off WW 2 style bombing modified for 21st century

If MBS old man dies and he’ takes charge things will go down hill in no time. He’s created to many enemies internally for his own good.

?... "Pakistan does not history subject"??

I guess India does not teach English grammar in the K-12 education?

The Taliban and Afghanistan serve no purpose really.

Waste of money to support or interact with them at all.
Whether one likes it or not having relationship with them will be important for all Gulf states as they have thousands of migrants from Afghanistan

What has been done by Saudi and UAE after Mursi come into power is fighting against Islamist movement from Egypt into Libya. Some how the Islamic Kingdom like Saudi is afraid of Islamist movement that is not a Kingdom. They are more afraid of Muslim Brotherhood since MB uses democracy as their ideal state system ( which is fit with Syura principle in Quran) where it can make their people wants to have similar system and kick out their King.

Taliban is not a democratic but regardless of that it is still closer to Islamist movement who uses democracy. So Saudi doesnt oppose Taliban just like they oppose MB in their region, but they also dont support it.

Strongly agree, many of my young Saudi friends are quite progressive as compared their parents which is a good thing. However, there are certain elements from the tribal culture of the Gulf that still exists in them and hopefully they will continue to exist. Also do note that I left KSA before MBS became crown prince.
@Wilhelm II Would you agree with my assessment?

Even Iran was able to gain some foothold in Afghanistan you can aee that by Taliban appointing Shia leaders in some provinces

I dont know why KSA has such a hands off approach
