His Excellency the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al-Muallami affirmed that, in sensing the importance of implementing the National Space Strategy, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was keen to regulate everything related to satellite systems, develop technologies for launching spacecraft, and set the requirements for the development and implementation of infrastructure. For the space sector, earth stations and space transport vehicles, and work to enhance space security through space monitoring and tracking, space debris monitoring, early warning, and strengthening international cooperation with the competent authorities in the space field.

He pointed out that the Kingdom has strengthened the level of education in space and aviation sciences, educational programs and the development of national cadres, indicating that this comes within the framework of a future vision that has put the space industry in its right place within the dimensions and requirements for the success of the Kingdom's 2030 vision, and therefore the Kingdom has concluded several agreements in the field of technology Outer space and its applications with several countries, such as the United States of America, China, the Russian Federation, Germany, France and Kazakhstan.

Most efficient location to launch into space is close to the equator. I always felt Pakistan should reach out to KSA and GCC about using Socotra Island off of Yemen as a potential joint space launch base. Other place is Indonesia or Somalia (its too unstable).

Pakistan itself is close enough to build a launch site around Balochistan or Sindh considering US space coast is farther (or just as far) from the equator than those.

Every mile matters for efficiency. A joint effort with KSA/GCC would have benefit of shared costs. We would have to help provide security in Yemen. Not sure GOP wants to do that but from my prospective a joint space launch effort may be worth this cost.

I dont know why they`ve posted a picture of a model of a ukrainian designed Mayak space launcher,one that hasnt even been built and frankly isnt ever likely to be.

Also Balochistan or Sindh are not good places to launch into space because any rocket would have to fly over densely populated land (mostly India). In case of accident or malfunction the rocket could hit populated areas...which could turn into a geopolitical incident. USA launches travel over the open ocean.

Socotra/Yemen, Somalia, or Indonesia are much better spots to launch into space from. They are close to the equator and are next to open ocean.

That's why I would advocate a joint effort. KSA and UAE are good partners for this. Yemen/Socotra is a better launch site than Baluchistan....if it is secured.

Call me a dreamer but Socotra has good potential as a launch site for space rockets. I don't really care about the maritime aspects. PN should focus on making the Northern part of Arabian sea into a defensive bastion.

Europeans launch rockets from Guiana in South America. The rockets are made mostly in France then shipped to the launch site 1000's of miles away. Socotra will require additional logistics facilities but that should not be a deal breaker. If conditions can be agreed to then we should do it. Our facilities in Baluchistan are for testing SR and MR BM's or for sounding rockets. They are not meant for space launches.

well Saudis and Ukraine have cooperation over missile named Grom SRBM and I think first missiles would be delivered to Saudis by 2022 .. also over An-132 .. so maybe they wanna do the same regarding SLVs ..

KSA has money and Ukraine got the know-how as simple as it.

Pakistan can use anything as long as it’s space program continues growing, but Saudi doesn’t control Socotra. It’s Yemeni land occupied by UAE and Israel

Yup, Indonesia is building space launch base in Biak, Papua. Today we are still trying to develop a rocket that can reach low orbit for micro satellite
