Saudi Air Defense Force intercepted a missile on Thursday launched by Houthi militias that was headed towards Taif province, west of Saudi Arabia.

The ballistic missile launched by the militias was intercepted by air defense forces using a surface-to-air Patriot missile, dropping its fragments in an uninhabited area.

Meanwhile a coalition aircraft managed to destroy the launch pad.

Quite irrelevant and flame baiting reply. Are you bothered by Saudi intercepting the ballistic missile?
Their human rights record could be discussed elsewhere and does not also mean they should be hit with ballistic missiles by a terrorist group!
Ok.

My reply was specific to the Houthis whose possession of weapons as advanced as Ballistic missiles speaks volumes of the forces backing them and using them as a proxy/cannon fodder only without any concerns for their lives or the lives of their community

If it was fired by Yemeni military then the situation and my comment would have been different - might not have commented at all

LOL
They won't believe it.
Al-Saud propaganda machine has told them Hamas, Islamic Jihad of Palestine, Houthis and Hezbollah are terrorists but ISIS, Al-Nusra, Al-Qaeda are freedom fighters who are receiving money and equipment from NATO and it's members.
Anti-Zionism for KSA's leadership is terrorism, i conclude, they believe that 1.7 billion out of 1.8 billion Muslims are terrorists and the only group that has no enmity with Israel is not terrorist.
This mentality is what is keeping Israel alive among 1.8 billion Muslims despite their massacre and mass murder in Islamic lands.
They won't believe us brother!

This would happen when you follow mass media blindly, they say Iran smuggle BM into the hands of Houthis either through Oman or Kuwait borders .. look at the this map and tell me how on earth Iran is able to get missile into the Yemen through this 2 countries , through Oman Iran should go though hostile areas in the hands of Saudi coalition and from Kuwait we should pass Saudi Arabia ... while the entire country is under siege even humanitarian aids ain't getting into the country let alone missiles ...

And funny part is they never show one single Iranian missile captured by coalition just making noise ... even Saudi coalition was gloating about destruction of Yemeni Army missile arsenal at begginning of the war back in 2015.
more over these people ignore history of Yemen missile program :

Yemen possesses an unknown number of Soviet-origin Scud ballistic missiles and North Korean Scud-variants (Hwasong ballistic missiles), most of which are believed to be under Houthi control. When the ongoing civil war began in 2015, Yemen was believed to possess approximately 300 Scud missiles, but a Saudi-led coalition bombardment reportedly destroyed approximately 80% of these missiles.

The People's Democratic Republic of Yemen, more commonly known as South Yemen, acquired its ballistic missiles in 1978, when one Scud-B brigade with twelve TELs was delivered by the Soviet Union. Also acquired was a brigade of 9K52 Luna-M artillery rockets, allowing for the establishment of two missile brigades. The Yemen Arab Republic, also known as North Yemen, introduced its first surface-to-surface missile assets only in the late eighties, when a brigade with eighteen of the more modern OTR-21 Tochka TELs and associated missiles was acquired.

Before Yemen was united in May 1990, the Yemen Arab Republic, or North Yemen, purchased Soviet-made SS-21 missiles. The SS-21, or Scarab, is a short-range ballistic missile that can travel up to 70 kilometers. Reports indicate North Yemen may have purchased up to 80 Scarabs. During the same period, the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen, also known as South Yemen, acquired Frog-7 and Scud-B missiles from the Soviet Union, as well as six Scud launchers. The Frog-7 is the much less accurate predecessor to the Soviet SS-21 Scarab with similar payload and range capabilities. The Scud-B is a short-range ballistic missile that can travel up to 950 kilometers, but is highly inaccurate, at times landing up to 900 meters from its target.

Yemen began purchasing Scud missiles from North Korea in the 1990s. In 2003 the Sosan, a North Korean ship, was intercepted and discovered to be carrying 15 Hwasong ballistic missiles, which are a variant of the Scud-B possessing a longer range and reduced payload capacity, destined for Yemen. Yemen claimed the purchase was legal and the shipment was permitted to proceed. Although Yemen was threatened with sanctions by the United States for its involvement with missile proliferation, no sanctions were levied due to Yemen's cooperation with the United States in combating terrorism. No further missile shipments have been interdicted since 2003.

Various Yemeni forces have utilized the Scud missiles since their acquisition. During the Yemeni Civil War of 1994, South Yemeni forces launched Scud missiles at Sana'a while the North launched Scuds at Aden. During the current Yemeni Civil War, Houthi rebels have employed Scud missiles against Saudi Arabia on multiple occasions. In a UNSC report made public in January 2016, the UN Panel of Experts on Yemen state there have been numerous missile attacks, originating from Yemen, launched at cities in southwest Saudi Arabia. Technical characteristics indicate they were Hwasong 6 (also known as Scud-C) ballistic missiles acquired from the DPRK. Yemen allegedly purchased a total of 45 of these missiles. In the same report the Saudi government claims that it has shot down more than 40 percent of all missiles launched against its territory.

Although the pre-civil war government of Yemen claimed the Scud missiles were for self-defense and would not be transferred to a third-party, the ongoing civil war has rendered their current and future chain-of-custody problematic, raising significant proliferation and terrorism concerns.

Thanks for information, interesting and nice read.

Yep, it is impossible that Iran has sent ballistic missiles to Yemen. These folks have imagined that BMs are something like coins that one can put them inside his pockets and deliver it to a besieged country.
The reason of this war is obvious, Americans want an other colony for their petro dollar and Saudi idiots are operating their plans in the region.
If you say that to an American moron, he will start talking about other things with tens of excuses that we had no role in Saudi attacks but they are miserably lying. Anyway i don't care about them neither about American citizens.
We should've played our role and attacked American fleet, you may call it suicide but we were Yemen's only hope. If we attacked American forces, we wouldn't need to confront Saudis. They are cowards and they would easily retreat since Arabian people of peninsula mostly have no interests in attacking Yemen. Saudi government as a puppet would be frightened immediately if they saw our attack on their warlords in Washington.D.C.
But we stood away, and watched the death of our oppressed brothers. It is bad @raptor22 , i don't like this.
And now we are deterring Saudis, in fact we were weakened. I see it as a weakness that our rival is Saudi kingdom, we should've killed American pigs who are the major besieger of Yemeni coast lines.

!
First of all, if the Houthis missiles are intercepted, it is not the Sauds that are doing it...Just 48 hrs ago the Houthis gave them something to remember for life..in KSA proper.A guy who can defend himself on the ground, how can he do it It the sky...Certainly interception of a missile need more neurons , à commodity that the Sauds are in a severe need...
