Saudi Arabia builds major Islamic Centre in Afghanistan

Wish that this money was spent on building schools and hospitals...

IT IS being spent on building schools and hospitals. The center has all of those.

This is the BEST form to battle Talibani Ideology. We understand better than anyone how to reform that ideology, and we have been so far the most successful in battling it. Killing individuals does NOT kill the ideology as most of the world thinks. You kill this ideology by education, which is the whole point of this center.

exactly my point.

Well another piece of evidence corroborating the British MP's comment, that Afghanistan will never be a viable state again.

lmaooooooo

You were fine for one day and now you've gone wahabi on us again

Care to share with us how this is going to help Afghanistan in the long run? Afghanistan of all places as well lol (the last thing these ppl need is another mosque, let alone an "Islamic center").

Never understood why countries like Afghanista, pakistan, lebanon etc... allow Iranian and Saudi govts to run around ******* **** up. It's mind boggling how the Saudi and Iranian govts can just fund anything they want in foreign countries!!!

Its kinda like a muslim cold war. The two richest oil rich muslim nations are competing for influence over the poor nations like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria, etc.

And of course, Iran and Saudi Arabia wont feel the conflict at home.

Afghanistan is not ‘potentially’ a poor country. It's quite the opposite. At just need a short time and of a tiny bit help. And we will help (with all GCC).

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is looking to construct one of the biggest Islamic Centre in Afghanistan which will be unique in its structure in the region.

According to Afghan government officials The Malik Abdullah Islamic Centre will comprise of a major Islamic studies university, a hostel that will serve at least 5,000 students, a hospital and a sports complex.

Besides, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will construct a mosque which will have a capacity for more than 15,000 prayers similar to Faisal Mosque built in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad.

The overall construction is expected to be between $45 million to $100 million and the construction work is expected to begin next year which will be completed in 3 years time.

Officials in the Ministry of Hajj and Islamic Affairs of Afghanistan said the construction of the Islamic Centre was signed between Yousuf Niazi, Afghan Hajj and Islamic Affairs Minister and Bandar Bin Mohammad Al-Hejar, Minister for Hajj of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The officials said ‘The Malik Abdullah Islamic Centre’ will be built in 60 acres of land at Maranjan Hill at the center of capital Kabul.

The construction design of the Islamic Centre was predicted during the kingdom of Malik Fahad former king of Saudi Arabia but the construction was delayed due to unrest in Afghanistan.

Dahi-ul-Haq Abid deputy Afghan Hajj and Islamic Affairs Minister said, “The Islamic Centre which will be built in Afghanistan will be unique in the region and probably will not be less than the Islamabad University built by Saudi Arabia. The Islamic Centre will be built in Maranjan Hill at the center of Kabul city.”

Officials in the Ministry of Hajj and Islamic Affairs of Afghanistan said the construction work of the Centre will be supervised by a commission comprised of six officials including officials from the Ministries of Hajj and Islamic Affairs of Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia.

The officials further added besides the students who will be trained in the university, Afghan Mullah Imams will also be trained.

According to Afghan officials, the Islamic Centre will pave the way for professional Islamic studies in Afghanistan despite thousands of Madrasas are serving in the country.

In the meantime the Islamic Centre will help the Afghan government to provide Islamic studies opportunities inside Afghanistan, who are currently studying in Pakistan which is considered to be a vital place for the Taliban group to attract fighters.

Good Job and Saudi Arabia should also built more hospitals and Islamic Schools in Afghanistan

This is rubbish, just KSA pushing it's own agenda forward and the naive Afghans welcome this trojan horse present.

When has KSA ever given money to a Muslim country to build hospitals, universities, or libraries?

Emir Sheikh Zayed of Dubai gave hundreds of millions to Johns Hopkins Hospital to build the Sheikh Zayed Center; never will you see them do the same for a Muslim country.

The whole country of Afghanistan is a major Islamic centre.
Sir for your information Saudi Arabia have build several hospitals and schools in whole world including our Quake effected areas

you must be joking right??
will it be same kind of modernity we see in Saudia Arabia??
Well if your version of modernity is limited to women getting naked than you will never see it but if you are refereeing to education than they are moving on that track at really fast speed latest ranking of Universities include 3 Saudi Universities

This amount of money even if invested in building bicycle factories will create long term sustainable employment opportunities for Afghans. But a Islamic center with proposed facilities like Hospital, Library & Sports Complex sounds more like an organised Al Quaida training center once it passes controls in the hands of crazy afghan mullahs!

Sir when Saudis build a institution they never ever leave it to other people to run they run it or keep an eye on its activities

It's funny how some people are talking about priorities when they host the worlds largest starving population, yet are spending billions to go to the Moon and Mars.

How about you people take care of yourselves first then start talking about priorities.

As for the center, I appreciate the help Saudis are giving despite my dislike of the Royal family.

Those people also host the Public distribution food security system probably the world's largest retail system.

UID AND PDS System

But then again amusing that those from nation who believe in Aga Thermodynamics speak about Moon and Mars.
