Saudi Arabia yesterday denounced the decades long Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territory and said it is a perfect example of injustice and violation of human rights in some parts of the Middle East.
Addressing a ministerial conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Prince Turki bin Muhammad, foreign ministry undersecretary for multilateral relations, reiterated Saudi Arabia's support for the Palestinian issue.
The Kingdom urged all NAM member countries to accept Palestine as an independent state, adding that 132 countries have already recognized it. "Israel's arrest of Palestinians and other Arabs is a flagrant violation of human rights and international charters," he said.

Prince Turki said Saudi Arabia would also be in the forefront of international efforts to find a just, speedy and comprehensive solution to the Syria crisis. He called for immediate efforts to end violence in the country and distribute relief aid to the victims. "Saudi Arabia's foreign aid totaled more than $ 100 billion since 1973, benefiting about 95 countries," the official said, adding that the amount accounted for 1.5 percent of the gross domestic product.
"The Kingdom has written off more than $ 6 billion debt of developing countries and given $ 1 billion to fight poverty in the Islamic world and $ 500 million each to the energy for the poor program and World Food Program," the official pointed out.

Referring to the UAE-Iran island row, Prince Turki emphasized the Kingdom's full support for Abu Dhabi to establish its sovereignty over the three islands — Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs — that are currently occupied by Iran.
The Kingdom also denounced the April 11 visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Abu Musa Island, describing it as a provocative act.

The Kingdom called for making the Middle East free from weapons of mass destruction. However, it said countries in the region should have the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. "We call upon Iran, all Middle Eastern countries and Israel to abide by international agreements regarding nuclear programs."
He urged Tehran to cooperate with international efforts to find a peaceful solution for its nuclear standoff with the West to avert an arms race and new dangers.
He urged NAM countries to support Yemen and strengthen its security and contribute to its economic stability.

The Kingdom urged South Sudan to respect its borders with Sudan on the basis of the January 1956 border and implement all the agreements between the two countries and settle their differences through peaceful means.

Prince Turki also referred to Saudi Arabia's efforts to combat terrorism as well as the historic interfaith dialogue initiative taken by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosque King Abdullah to promote world peace and security indicating that the Kingdom has funded the establishment of King Abdullah Dialogue Center in Vienna. He also noted the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to protect human rights.

Saudi Arabia asks NAM states to recognize Palestine

.
Most of the the NAM states already support Two state solution.............

What new status are you asking for????????

. .
we are not talking about support we are talking about recognition.:hitwall:

Palestinian Authority already has embassies in many countries but things will get normal only if any constructive UN resolution is passed.

many countries still don't recognize Palestine as a state and it will not get any normal till israel withdraw to the 1967 borders.

Israel would never withdraw to that. Israel had offered you numerous peace and two state plans before but all of them were rejected by the Arabs and Arabs attacked them intending to destroy Israel. The power is now in Israel's favour. Better recognise palestine and Israel together right now at this border. Accept the 2 state solution and dismantle Hamas, pLo etc militant wing and everything will be peaceful in that region.

In last 64 years Arabs lost many opportunities. I have talked to Israelis, Israel will never agree for 1967 borders particularly Jerusalem City, and one Israeli guy told me that "Even we accept 1967 borders Arabs will never acknowledge our existence as a nation and they will ask for more."

Israel is no more isolated like 1948 and recognized by majority of countries in the non-Muslim world. People in non-Muslim world care little about Palestine and many countries want collaboration with Israel's technological advancement in defence and civil sector for development of their own country.

No leave the status quo. Wait for Americans to go bust. Israel can not survive without the charity. Palestinians will get their state back by default. 70 odd years is no big deal, Crusaders held Jerusalem for 100 years and then were kicked out when Arabs sorted out themselves and a good leader came to the fore. same will happen again.

Saudi Arabia talking about Human rights.... The sad irony.

the only chance you have to live in peace and the survival of your state is if you listen to Sauds. If you do not then in that you sow the seeds of your own destruction.

But first Saudi Arabia must cease funding terror organizations and halt the spread of Wahabi fundamentalism around the world! They should stop preaching and learn to behave as a responsible nation first before pontificating to others! :azn:

And yes, Palestine should be made an independent country and admitted to the UN forthwith.

I think the Saudis have stopped doing what you state. But the thing is I think they should assist more in the deprogramming of the militants that their money brainwashed in the first place

I think all NAM states except a few here and there don't recognise Palestine in its 1967 borders.

Here is a map of all countries that do recognise Palestine already

I think you don't know about the Saudi led 2002 Arab Peace initiative endorsed by the Arab Leauge (i.e. all Arab counties) and even the OIC

It not only recognises Israel but also states that all states will establish full economic and diplomatic ties as well

So it is not us who is refusing peace now S-19. It is them. S-19 you should stop posting regarding things you don't know a thing about.

Are you sure about that? US aid is no more than 3-4% of Israel's budget. Yes, US aid was decisive in the 70s, especially in the 73' war. But Israel is pretty independent now and can go on with only minor inconvenience if US aid stops.

The only vulnerability is Israel's energy dependency. At present it depends on Russia/Caucasus for its energy needs.

I see, that peace proposal is equivalent to the 2011 proposal by Abbas. In 2011, Mahmod abbas called for recognising Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders.

Now why should Israel withdraw to pre-1967 borders which palestinian leaders and Arab leaders themselves have rejected numerous times before? And what about the suicide bombings started from 2000 by palestinians (second intifada)? How do you expect Israel at that time to accept your "peace plan" while palestinian terrorists are bombing Israeli civilians and suicide bombing?

Let us look how many "peace plans" were rejected by the Arabs...

- 1937 peace plan when the jews were being slaughtered by the Arabs in riots ---> Called for 20% of so-called Palestine be devoted to a Jewish state and 80% for palestinian ----> Rejected by Arabs outright.

- 1947 UN partition plan ---> Rejected by Arabs

- 1948 war to destroy Israel ---> Failed "This will be a war of extermination", "we will plant the streets of jerusalem with skulls of jews".... Israel won the war and its territory expanded by 40%.

- For 25 years from 1948-1967, both Egypt and Jordan denied Palestinians any statehood or independence.

- In the past decade, Israeli leaders offered 3 plans - far more generous than anything: 1) Camp david: Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as their capital -----> 2000 > Second intifada started with 3 year suicide bombings by palestinian terrorists.

- Ehud olmert offered to withdraw to almost the pre 1967 borders in 2008 ---> Again no response by Abas.
