Then what does a ban mean??? Is it a new way to felicitate a cricketer for his good work?

There is never a smoke without a fire....

Do you even have an iota of idea that what actually went wrong with them getting the bans and fines at the first place. The only people that were rightly finned with prove were Kamran Akmal and Afridi, for giving statements in the media and chewing on the ball. Yousuf, Younis and Malik were scapegoat'ed for poor show of the team in the Australian tour, and also the X manager who recommended these fines and bans was not at good terms with these players. Umar got a very bad decision in his favour as it came out latter that he did have a back pain and didn't fake the thing. Also Rana got pulled into it for some reason, but there was also a statement from some lawyer that most of these fines and bans have no ground except for the first 2 that i have mentioned, and they will be thrown out as soon as they go to the court. That's the reason that PCB is issuing statements right left and centre to clear their face and not to get into any legal complications where they will be further humiliated. Over all the whole issue was more mishandled by PCB then any thing else.

All Indians from now to onwards must respect this man

They should.

.
He shouldn't have lied in the first place even if the marriage was over the phone or blah!! he signed the nikanama and now made a lier of himself in front of whole word.
As Creder said no phone from now on :D

.
I heard Mohammad Asif is also being sued by an ex girl friend...

. . .
In India any woman that can present two witnesses and a few photos of you and her together can state that you married her.
Bullshyt. I would however agree that marital laws in India are somewhat pro-women.
On top of that she even had a signed nikahnama.
And yet you think she didn't have a case? What more do you need as evidence to prove that they were married?
On top of that she claimed that he tortured her and he had no way to prove he didn't.
Malik's constant denial of marriage in spite of a signed and sealed nikahnama does qualify as mental torture. Given that he made public denials, there was nothing Malik could have done to prove otherwise. It was an open and shut case, thanks to his brainless antics.
He would've gone to jail for a minimum of 7 years.
Would have served that neanderthal right.
In Pakistan she wouldn't have been successful.
I don't think it is a matter of pride that a woman having a valid certificate of marriage can't prove that she is married and claim compensation. But then again what is so macho in compensating ladies who have been wronged. It is so un-'Martial'
Malik did what any hostage would do in a hostage situation. Pay the ransom.
Malik did what every troglodyte who is caught with his loincloth down would have done - lick his spit and admit to his guilt.

Brand Sania takes a hit, Cadbury not to renew contract

NEW DELHI: Sania Mirza seems to be losing her brand value just ahead of her marriage with former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik, with Cadbury Bournvita deciding not to renew its contract with the country’s top female tennis player.

“Our contract with Sania Mirza was signed for a period of one year that expired last month and we do not intend to renew the contract,” a Cadbury India spokesman said.

He, however, refused to cite any particular reason for the confectionery maker’s decision.

The wedding between two national sports players of the not-so-friendly neighbours, scheduled for April 15, has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. First, some right wing parties asked Sania to reconsider her decision. Later, one Ayesha Siddiqui from Hyderabad, Sania’s hometown, claimed that she is already married to the Pakistani cricketer. Add this to her inconsistent form in recent times, brand Sania — the country’s best-known sportswoman ahead of badminton star Saina Nehwal — has taken a hit.

“Unfortunately, Sania has not been able to play consistently for the last 16 months which has resulted in a drop in rankings,” said Andreas Gellner, MD Adidas India, which signed a multiple-year endorsement contract with the tennis player in 2008.
“However, we are confident she will be back to her best and will represent India at the London Olympics in 2012,” added Mr Gellner. TVS Scooty, the only other brand Sania is endorsing, could not be contacted for this story.

“The negative press surrounding her marriage has definitely depleted her brand value and image with the advertisers currently,” said Manish Porwal, managing director of marketing solutions firm Alchemist.

The only Indian tennis star and sportswoman to command Rs 1-2 crore per endorsement was already struggling with her brand image when her wedding was announced, with the number of brands she representing falling along her tennis ranking.

In 2005-06 when she was at the peak of her career with a world ranking of 77, the tennis star had bagged big endorsers with the likes of Tata Indicom, Hyundai Getz, Lotto Sport Italia, Sprite, GVK Industries, Sahara India, Atlas Cycles and Tata Tea.

That year, Sania's valuation has come next only to Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid and she was commanding anywhere between Rs 2 crore and Rs 4 crore.:woot: By 2007, brands like Hyundai, Tata Indicom, Sahara India and Lotto Sport Italia were off her endorsement list.

But she did well on the court and reached a career high ranking of 27 two years ago.

Result? In 2008, Adidas signed a multiple year contract with her as their brand ambassador. And in 2009, she signed deals with TVS Scooty and Cadbury Bournvita.

But now the chips are down again. “Inconsistent performance has kept her at bay from the endorsers,” said Harish Bijoor, brand consultant and CEO of Harish Bijoor Consults Inc. He, however, added that her brand value will increase if she does well on the court and the marriage will not hamper it. “She has to get back only with her tennis to be in the endorsements circuit again,” he said.
