Samsung smartphone found emitting smoke at Japan airport
(Xinhua) 13:42, October 21, 2016

TOKYO, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- Japan's transport ministry said Friday that a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone belonging to a foreign passenger was found emitting smoke at Kansai International Airport in western Japan earlier this week. No one was injured in the incident.

According to the ministry, the smartphone started to emit smoke around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, shortly after its owner tried to detach the battery at a security check point for international flights.

It is believed to be the first such incidence in Japan, though a series of similar incidents had been reported overseas with the Galaxy Note 7.

The South Korean electronics giant has halted production and sale of this specific model of smartphone which has not been sold in Japan.

Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has prohibited passengers from bringing this specific model of phones aboard airplanes since Oct. 15.

.
How do you detach the battery for a Note 7??

Actually I'm surprised no more incidents were reported since the recall, despite millions of Note 7 still being used by owners.

It's non-removable unless you have the required tools, skills and approx 15-25 mins for the task. :-)

I doubt someone would be doing that at the airport without causing a security scene.

Hua means China, Wei means Action/Accomplish :D
ZTE (Zhong Xing), Zhong means China, Xing means Prosperous
People's Republic of China, Zhong Hua Ren Min Gong He Guo.

That's probably one of the reasons Chinese are so fond of these two telecommunication brands.

Do you know One Plus is just an online subsidiary of OPPO?
OPPO is priced higher, and One Plus seems to attract a lot of Android nerds.
But OPPO has some unique qualities to attract consumers.

VOOC is a huge selling point in China.

Charge for 5 minutes, phone call for 2 hours, it's not a joke!

Samsung Recalls 2.8 Million Top-Load Washing Machines

https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2017/Samsung-Recalls-Top-Load-Washing-Machines
34 models!

Incidents/Injuries:
Samsung has received 733 reports of washing machines experiencing excessive vibration or the top detaching from the washing machine chassis. There are nine related reports of injuries, including a broken jaw, injured shoulder, and other impact or fall-related injuries.

Remedy:
Consumers should contact Samsung immediately to receive one of the following remedy options. Consumers can choose (1) a free in-home repair that includes reinforcement of the washer’s top and a free one-year extension of the manufacturer’s warranty; (2) a rebate to be applied towards the purchase of a new Samsung or other brand washing machine, along with free installation of the new unit and removal of old unit; or (3) a full refund for consumers who purchased their washing machine within the past 30 days of the recall announcement.

All known consumers will also receive a Home Label Kit that includes a control panel guide and additional safety instructions in the mail.

Until they have received and installed a Home Label Kit, consumers should only use the delicate or waterproof cycles when washing bedding, water-resistant and bulky items. The lower spin speed in the delicate or waterproof cycles lessens the risk of the washing machine top unexpectedly detaching from the washing machine chassis.

Sold At:
Best Buy, The Home Depot, Lowes, Sears and other home appliance stores nationwide from March 2011 to November 2016 for between $450 and $1,500.
