Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G to be made in Bangladesh

£1,300, is a hefty sum most people get phones like this on credit/ contract and pay it off on a monthly basis in uk. I don't know how many people in bd will be willing to buy it lump sum.

Oh you'll be surprised, percentage wise a lot more in Pakistan than the UK, then Bangladesh, then maybe India (distant third). Not everyone in Bangladesh is poor, especially customers of these items.

To spend money on luxury goods you have to have breadth of sina (courage), and we know that hierarchy.

Oh, trust me there are more fellows who can afford than you would think.

Remember, we are talking about a nation of a 164 million people, the size of the upper class and middle class is not tiny when you think about it.

164 Million people is half the population of the US. Maybe 5% will be able to afford it, conservatively at least 2%.

Whether they think is worth it, is another matter. Not everyone needs game playing compute power, storing unlimited amounts of music or movies. If needed, one can conduct most remote office work using this phone as it has a strong stylus/keyboard function. I have one from two generations ago and that one is way more capable of this than even necessary.

You could conduct a hostile corporate takeover with this phone and the right apps.

Well, Even If we factor in the 2% figure which you suggest, which I believe is a bit too conservative of an estimation, that's still 3.3 million people.

More than the population of some European countries, and let's be honest there is no finesse when it's comes to rich people in Bangladesh, they're 'filthy' rich.

I believe these handsets assembled in Bangladesh will be exported to other countries as well, plugged right into the Samsung electronics supply line.

But I could be mistaken.

Anyhow, it demonstrates that these companies want to do business in Bangladesh, and more importantly want to set up Bangladesh as an electronics manufacturing hub for their respective companies, the government ought to take a cue here and encourage more such ventures by Foreign tech giants.

Once manufacturing (even assembly) precedent is set with a reputed brand like Samsung, it only opens up the door for mo' better things to happen.

Other brands will come in like Huawei, LG, RedMi, Oppo and maybe even Foxconn (Apple iPhone). Sub-component makers (like screen and SMT chip makers) will set up shop locally.

Companies like Walton and others will start OEM manufacturing for reputed brands in first world markets. They may even establish their own brands overseas at some point.

Yes Govt. should sweeten the pot for incoming manufacturers.

All good brother. :-)

This is Shonar Bangla brother, everything is always good.

I'm not being sarcastic.

It's just assembling, the motherboard is not even made in house in bd. So I am not very excited about it
At least Bangladeshi people are buying Samsung mobiles with lower cost that are assembled in Bangladesh.

Mobile market will be more interesting after xaomio open it's manufacturing plant in Bangladesh. It's in process.

Also Samsung will soon start making motherboard in Bangladeshi manufacturing plant.

Walton was the key that unlocked all this potential. BD is a nation of 160m and it is getting prosperous. Our ppl needs to take the lead and international players will follow to catch up.

We need someone to start automobile industry and see the global players jumping in. We are now a frontier market and properly cultivated golden bengal is a real possibility.

Perhaps Xaomi will be the solution for us. After starting their plant I am sure we will be getting xaomi even in lower cost than present days price. Xaomi maybe not very appealing to rich people. But Xaomi really provided super quality phones in much less price than samsung.

But there are many people ( including middle class ) who buys phones with such high price . Our people love to spend ( or waste ) money too much .

With our population there is a market for every kind of phone at every price bracket.

Let them come. Link tax to amount of in country value addition and watch this take off.
