LAHORE: Governor Punjab Salman Taseer Wednesday gave orders to resume work on Express Highway Construction Project, Lahore Rapid Mass Transit System and Lahore-Sialkot-Kharian Motorway Project.
Governor Taseer, presiding over a high-level meeting in Lahore, said that the previous administration stopped work on these projects for no reason. It was told in the meeting that Lahore Mass Transit System would cost Rs40 billion.
Lahore to Kharian motorway covering distance of 157 km would be built with the cost of Rs51 billion while Express Highway Construction Project would complete with the estimated cost of Rs17 billion.
To ensure the quality of these projects, the governor also ordered to introduce a third party validation system.
