He live-tweeted his departure from the party and it all started with a cryptic tweet two days ago

You know it's really breakup season when Salman Ahmad announces that he's leaving Imran Khan's side.

After decades of loyalty to the cricket champ-turned-PTI chief, Salman has announced that he is moving away from political party PTI, claiming he can no longer justify Imran Khan's actions.

He live-tweeted his departure from the party and it all started with a cryptic tweet two days ago.

Who'd have thought Salman Ahmad was in genuine turmoil at the time. Turns out Amir Liaquat is joining PTI and while many raised their concerns, SufiSal was at first confident that his leader will make the right decision.

And he was not afraid of saying more.

He just wanted to be heard, but it looks like he wasn't.

And he did not take it too well.

Will Salman Ahmad still be a part of PTI? Will he sing at those rallies? Or is this completely over? Sigh.

KARACHI: Pakistan musician, rock guitarist and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporter Salman Ahmad has stated that after 35 years of defending, supporting and justifying party chief Imran Khan to the world , 'I no longer can'.

In a tweet here Monday, Salman Ahmad said, “After 35 years of defending, supporting & justifying @ImranKhanPTI to the world , i no longer can.”

He went on to say, “I fear that reptiles surround him (Imran Khan).”

Salman Ahmad remarks came on the day when TV anchor Aamir Liaquat Hussain and TV artist Abid Ali formally announced to join PTI at a press conference. They were flanked by party Chief Imran Khan in Karachi.

Salman Ahmad has been often seen at PTI rallies and sings patriotic and revolutionary songs in these rallies which revitalises the whole environment.

He is often alleged as being a member of the party as well.

In October 2016, Salman Ahmad was taken into custody by Islamabad police along with various other PTI workers after the activists clashed with the law enforcement entities in Rawalpindi.

Some of the decisions are not really the best apparently. Aamir Liaquat has a lot of opposition due to his open stance.

After Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan’s surprise press conference in Karachi on Monday, where he welcomed Aamir Liaquat to the fold, staunch supporters are voicing their concerns.

Musician Salman Ahmad, who has supported the party for 35 years, said he can no longer justify Imran’s decisions.

The Junoon guitarist however, was not the only one unhappy with the party’s recent developments.



Adil Ansari, a part of the social media team of PTI said, this was “not the PTI I joined” and “with Aamir Liaquat types joining PTI, I don’t see light at the end of the tunnel.”

Will always remain thankful to Chairman Imran Khan and the party for awarding me senior positions in the party but with Amir Liaquat types joining PTI, i don't see light at the end of the tunnel.

After joining the party on Monday, Liaquat claimed the PTI will clean sweep the upcoming general elections from Karachi.

“It feels as if I were already a part of the PTI…this party is my final destination,” said the former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader. “I have not joined [Imran] Khan but I have joined Pakistan…our joint struggle will be against corruption,” he added.

While the PTI chief said Liaquat represented the ‘youth of Karachi’.

“We want to take people on board to bring change…Pakistan will not prosper until Karachi is developed,” said Imran, adding that “politicians learn from their past [and make the right decisions]”.
