Fully agree with KS... no leader has the right too favor his state when there r more states who r deserving ... here Antony has done a Mistake ...

But same has been done by when Lalu was Rail minister for Bihar, Mamata for W.Bengal when she was rail minister , when A.Raja was telecom minister for Tamil Nadu ...

Its just that Antony followed the suit ... obviously he had lot of pressure from local state Kangress committee & Chonia Gadi as well...

But if we look at the merit all these industries will either go to Gujarat,TN,Karnataka or Maharahstra ... then a question arises what will the other states get ...

Hi i don know weather you know or not, kerala got his first defence PSU after a long waiting of 60 years.

Seriously ? You want projects to go over-budget purposely because they benefit the economy ?

And I was not even talking about the project overruns or delays, but about how all defence psu s and manufacturing facilities are being pushed to Kerala even though everyone knows about the labor union problems in Kerala, just because the minister is a Keralite. In contrast, Tamil Nadu which has a far better industrial policy, better ancillary industries, more man-power and vast tracts of barren land is being continuously ignored. This minister is also threatening to stop buying rifles from the only one ordnance factory in TN.

On serious note, yes TN has got more friendly industrial policy. But this is not as industrial as you pointing out, making avionics and display units and all not that helping to the local public. Yes, if you open a textile mill..i agree. For e.g we got a beer producing factory was coming up near our place. All people were very happy that locals will get job, gave land at local price. Then what happened, all are mechanized and only one peon got and 15+ labours got the job + a chai valla dhukan.

About refusing to buy rifles, you are thinking too much regional perspective...if army does not want it, why do they buy it at the first place. For keeping the jobs at the factory.

Janata Dal-Secular leader M P Veerendrakumar was the first to call the highway a 'wall', as it is proposed to be built at a height of seven to 10 metres from ground level. "It is another Berlin Wall in the making," he had said.

Amid growing concerns, opposition leader V S Achuthanandan has asked the government to put a halt to all activities in connection with the mega project, estimated to cost Rs 6,400 crore. He said it would be destructive for a state like Kerala with a small geographical area but dense population.

On serious note, yes TN has got more friendly industrial policy. But this is not as industrial as you pointing out, making avionics and display units and all not that helping to the local public. Any defence industry has a huge demand for CNC, lathe works, forging, fabrication etc which will mostly be outsourced to local producers.

We dont have nuclear projects, automobile industries etc.. all we have is IT and related... let us grow too.. dont show ur anger towards us... ... u guys have a lot of plants and industries ( though powercut for almost 10 hrs may be over soon...

I'm not against Kerala growing. but this is NOT how growth happens. It must happen from bottom up. Without learning to walk if one tries to run, thats not gonna work. Directly having some critical defence psu s without actually reforming the labor sector or increasing the supporting ancillary industries will only prove to be economically bad. I heard there was some labor union problem in the Brahmos plant. Seriously ? Union problems in a critical defence plant ? And yes, my anger was also against the blatant regionalism that Antony exhibits and show that NO ONE is above regionalism in India.
