Sad that Indians are corrupt, says Dalai Lama

New Delhi, Sep 11, 2012 (PTI)

Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama today said it was a contradiction that Indians were indulging in "unethical" practises like corruption despite being religious-minded.

Indians are "highly religious-minded" and it is very sad that corruption is prevalent in this country, he said while denouncing the menace. "I recently went to Ladakh and someone told me for example if government gives them Rs 100, only Rs 20 reach them. Rest 80 per cent disappears. This is very sad. Indians are religious-minded people and they fear god," he said at a function at the Ramakrishna Mission here.

When poverty remains a major issue in the country, corruption is not acceptable and everyone should think on this count, he said.

"It is a big contradiction. On one hand they pray in the morning and through the day they do corruption. This is not done. When you deny god and deny spirituality then at least one can understand," he said.

Well Leh is in Jammu and Kashmir and in J&K out of every 100 rupee the Indian govt spends 80rs goes to Kashmiris..10 rs to Jammu and 10rs to Leh,Ladakh...Still we have thankless people.

The great Nehru ji is responsible for half the problems..When there was Kings rule these b@$*ards didnt dare to raise their voice...but then the great democracy came in.

The Lama is just adding his voice to the many who are fighting corruption, all influencial people do that to add an extra hand to the society, nothing new here but the Lama talks a lot more about the Chinese atrocities in Tibet would be nice if the OP could lend an ear to that.
