Infrastructure or even oil refining is a different group altogether. These kind of projects dont do or need R & D. These is a long term investment not like being a dealership for BMW but building the BMW itself.
These are turnkey projects not R&D programs.
Which companies in India have R&D, please tell me?
None. Nothing. Zero.
DRDO's research is a joke. They do nothing with the funds allocated to them and the funds are pittance. 5% of our Defence budget! That's $2.6 billion! Pittance.
That's why private firms must start somewhere and make the DPSUs redundant.
yeah similar to what HAL is doing. So wats the difference. old wine in new bottle ?
1- Faster production rate
2- Better timeline management.
3- Better employee accountability.
4- No moronic bureaucrats managing defence.
5- Private elements such as marketing to other friendly countries and gain foreign customers.
6- More autonomy to use the annual profits for further capacity development.
None of these elements exist in DPSUs.
How this fighter going to beat Teja?
Tejas is not able to meet production deadlines and IAF needs fighter jets faster than what HAL can produce.
Hence these are being considered.
With 13 Tejas in a year, we won't be getting anywhere with a 150-unit order.
