S-400, Nuclear Subs, FGFA to be top agenda of Modi-Putin meet on Sunday

Though i want these deals to be concluded during upcoming putin visit. But chances are very less .relations between russia and india are tense. Most probably putin will return empty hand.

What's the estimated Per unit cost of FGFA ?

Edit: (to avoid troll's ) Asking for Knowledge purpose.
around $200 million

Back in 2010's when this deal was publicized, it was supposed to be $6 billion (for India and Russia each) for the entire project at the end of which about 166 single seater and 48 twin seater aircraft would be procured by India. However, for projects like these, it is extremely difficult to put a price per unit until all the development is complete and the economies of scale is then calculated.

so 6 billion for 166 single seat + 48 twin seaters you do the math

that is a ridiculous low number
the flankers cost more

25billion$ project ..
add the lifecyle costs. it will go up

Nothing special should be expected from this meet. Indian Ambassador words in Moscow are not very encouraging.

India may delay buying these.

Absolutely.

People still don't get it.

BJP is a West leaning party and doing everything to sever ties with Russia. The only reason Modi and Putin keeps meeting is because the yearly summit meetings have been institutionalized.

Nothing concrete would come out these meetings. The meeting would be nothing but a photo op exercise.

Modi just wants to project that he is trying and he does not end up taking the blame for the divorce as he knows that Indian public has a soft corner for Soviets/Russia.

That's incorrect, $6 billion each was the cost of funding the development of the aircraft (now probably brought down to $4 billion each), the cost of the aircraft itself would be at actuals.

I hope the Indian diplomats/generals undercut Mr Modi here

Indian Military favors Western Equipment and are very happy with the incumbent government.

India Bureaucracy and Diplomats work and implement the strategy of the government. They will never go against the government.

The biggest impact is on the Defence PSUs who have traditionally relied on partnerships with Russian entities. And Indians have nothing but contempt for these entities for their decades of inefficiencies.

Unless Congress/UPA comes back to power in 2019 which is almost an impossibility, Indo-Russian relations are history..

People vote on domestic issues and not how the government manages the foreign affairs.

BJP is doing a commendable job on the domestic front. It is the foreign affairs where they have and are selling India quite cheaply.

The only deal which is realistic is the Kamov Ka-226 as it is not strategic in nature and India already has a competing product in Dhruv.

why s-400 does not seems realistic ?? India needs missile defence , US vetoed Israili arrow ...now only option India has in S-400 ?

@PARIKRAMA whats are your views on S-400 ?

The more stronger India becomes the lesser it would depend on others.

So the goal is to make India weaker and weaker.

Why did India sign LSA? Because it felt threatened by Chinese navy in Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

In the next few years, India would agree to host US missile defense umbrella once it reaches a point where it can no longer protect itself from the missiles from China and Pakistan.

Whole world depend on each other , China is biggest trade partner of US . Are you sure the reason behind LSA is threat from China .
Never thought in that sense that India will allow the American boots or missiles on Indian soil , it will be suicidal for any govt but again rerefueling the ships and and planes is no big deal .

I beg your pardon before saying this you live in US and worried about US in India kinda ironic :) majority of Indian still feel Rissia trust worthy then US and its the reality also , no LSA can change this reality. as far as missiles are concerned , If India fears their missiles then I am sure they Indian missiles are also bit of a concern to them

And if something did came out then? Look there are certain strategic toys that no one but Russia is sharing with us...in today's world zero sum game is considered way too lame to even talk about it...leave aside implementing it...
