Russia’s Asian Pivot: The Vladivostok-Chennai Maritime Corridor

Anyway, going back to the topic.

India has an important location in the Indian Ocean region between two major chokepoints(Strait of Hormutz and Strait of Malacca), which connect the IOR to the Meditteranean and greater Indo-Pacific. As a result, almost all major trade routes pass through Indian waters. As a result, initiatives like Chabahar, INSTC, Chenai-vladivostok,are simply examples of combining India's economy with its strategic maritme position to increase economic relations with countries in the Indo-Pacific and to increase its overall influence in the region.
