In September, the Russian military had more contract servicemen than conscripts, Sergey Shoigu has said, adding it was proof of the growing prestige of a military career and its popularity among young Russians.
The minister noted that the officers who conducted the draft were obliged to take special measures to decrease the numbers of those who wanted to join the ranks. “Already in September, we started to hold back applicants, because there were so many of them. And this cannot but make us happy,” the Defense Minister said in an interview with the ITAR-TASS news agency.

Shoigu added that sometimes people even tried to bribe military officers in order to join the ranks and the incidents ended in criminal cases. The minister said that such things had never happened before.

Such developments could be explained by more generous wages.

The head of the National Center for Defense, General Mikhail Mizintsev, told the Interfax news agency that for the first time in history the number of contract soldiers in Russian military forces had surpassed the number of conscript soldiers.

The general said that the defense ministry hired over 70,000 people as contract servicemen in 2014, fulfilling the draft plan by 94 percent in September. Over 16,000 contract servicemen joined units that make up Russian peacekeeping forces, the airborne troops, the marines and special forces units.

“Two army brigades, 12 special forces units and five battalions of airborne troops and marines were manned entirely with contract servicemen,” Mizintsev told reporters.

In June this year, Russia introduced a federal law allowing male citizens who reach the age of conscription to choose between one year of conscription and two years as a contract serviceman. The law is part of a larger military reform, with the objective of decreasing the numbers of military in the country, and at the same time boosting their professionalism, as well as improving the quality of weapons and equipment.

And what's the contradiction with my words? I said that in New Russia there are no regular military units of the Army of the Russian Federation, but there are people (some of them - soldiers and ex-soldiers) from Russia who are fighting against the Junta. These people came here voluntarily.

Most of the weapons militia seized from junta or Nazi battalions. Maybe something was bought on the black market.

Vasilyeva, "Cargo 200", "Soldiers' Mothers" and other NGOs - they are all there for the money of Western sponsors. Do you think they will tell the truth? They are paid not for the truth.
Recently Vasilyeva "expose" military divers participated in the battles against Ukraine. According to her, divers were killed. She called names. Then it turned out that she just copied the names of combat divers from the fantastic book. Copied verbatim. And another time she did such with the football team, died in a plane crash, and with applicants of some Institute in Buryatia.
All of these organizations are created for Western public, because in the West, no one will be able to check their veracity. In Russia, it is not hard to do, so even a fool would not believe the words of the people who are paid from West.

Let’s talk about the realities for Americans. Started two pointless wars that have achieved nothing and have actually made more extremists. Cost trillions of dollars and has killed thousands of US soldiers and has made many more disabled mentally and physically. No. People from Russia go to Donbass at their own risk. Military personnel uses their vacations for this. If someone is paid - military advisers, instructors and professional spions. But you do realize that there are not a lot of such people - tens, maximum - few hundreds. All the rest - cossacks, ex-soldiers and some actual soldiers and officers are volunteers. They come to New Russia to defend Motherland.
Imagine that Barack Obama (he become crazy or he was hidden traitor from beginning) allowed exit of Texas from the United States. Imagine that Mexicans bombed American cities of Texas. I am sure that many soldiers and former soldiers of the US Army would go to Texas to help local Americans kick *** Mexicans.

They actually don`t hide anything , there were several reports in media about dead servicemen who left for Eastern Ukraine on their own will (confirmed by their wives), but only several cases. They have no need to send regular troops since it`s not really difficult to find ex-soldiers and officers to go over the border. Mind you , Russia has dozens of thousands paramilitaries , they have their own training grounds. Military even gives them armored vehicles for training needs.
