A Russian military plane with 92 people on board has crashed into the Black Sea on its way to Syria, Russian news agencies reported on Sunday, and it was unlikely there would be any survivors.

Russian agencies, citing unnamed security sources, said the TU-154 aircraft had crashed in the sea near the southern Russian city of Sochi after disappearing from radar screens.

The plane was carrying Russian servicemen and members of a renowned military choir and dance ensemble, the Alexandrov Ensemble, who were being flown into Russia's Hmeymim air base in Syria to entertain military personnel in the run-up to the new year, the RIA news agency quoted the Defence Ministry as saying.

The plane was carrying 84 passengers and eight crew members, agencies quoted the ministry as saying. Nine Russian reporters were among the passengers, agencies said.

Fragments of the plane have already been found at a depth of 50-70 metres at a distance of around 1.5 kilometres (0.93 miles)from the Russian coast, agencies reported Russia's RIA news agency, citing an unidentified security source, said preliminary data indicated that the plane had crashed because of a technical malfunction or a pilot error.

The Interfax news agency cited an unnamed source as saying the plane had not sent an SOS signal.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Sunday it was too early to say what had caused the crash.

President Vladimir Putin was being kept informed of latest developments, Peskov added.

Russia's Defence Ministry regularly flies musicians into Syria to put on concerts for military personnel.

The base they were heading for, Hmeymim, is in Latakia province. It is from there that Russia flies air strikes against Syrian rebels.

Earlier in December, another Russian Defence Ministry crashed in Siberia with 39 people on board as it tried to make an emergency landing near a Soviet-era military base.

Nobody was been killed in that incident, though 32 people were airlifted to hospital.

CIA black hand at work in the Black Sea.

If it was the CIA then that means Russian intelligence is crap ... Looking on who was on this plane...

And RIP for the Great Choir

"According to preliminary reports, the Tupolev transport plane had 92 people on board, including 84 passengers and eight crew members. It went missing over the Black Sea at 2:40 GMT shortly after refueling at an airport near Sochi.

Most of the passengers on board were members of the Alexandrov Ensemble, the official choir of the Russian Armed Forces, the Russian Defense Ministry said. They were travelling from Moscow to the Russian military base Khmeimim near Latakia, Syria to take part in a Christmas celebration with troops deployed there. The head of the choir, conductor and composer Valery Khalilov, is among the 65 members of the ensemble presumed dead in the accident.

Crews from Channel One Russia, NTV, and Zvezda (the official media outlet of the Russian Defense Ministry), each with three members, were on board as well, the outlets confirmed.

The passenger list released by the defense ministry also includes Elizaveta Glinka, a prominent charity activist and humanitarian worker. She is best known by her blogger nickname “Doctor Liza.” Some reports initially said she may have deplaned in Sochi, but the Presidential Council for Human Rights confirmed that she was on board."

No it dosn't mean the same.
It just shows the way how different nations approach to run their operations.

Right, because the highest priority mission for the CIA, the operation that is sure to win us an advantage in Syria..............would be to clandestinely murder a plane full of choir members and make it look like an accident. Posts like that make me seriously wonder if people who make them, are really that imbecilic, or do they just have so much calumny and hatred in their hearts, that they have to turn every single tragedy, into some cheap political argument. :disagree:

I only feel great sadness this Christmas day, for the human life that was lost, only because they wanted to bring comfort and entertainment, to their country's soldiers serving far from home. R.I.P. God bless them.

Very tragic for the victims to die on a day associated with family unity. RIP.

.
RIP. Obama will leave a battlefield behind him and hurries to do all to force Trump for hostile acts.
Reason is Russo, Iranian, Pakistan and Turkish alliance. If China joins it will be no more calculable for the USA.
USA already made a strong strategic partnership with India but this alliance is not enough.
