Russia didn't become the largest country by land size in the world by being an ''innocent victim'' of bullying. They annexed seized lands from several countries in Europe, Baltics, scandinavia, Central Asia, East Asia etc. To liken them to a victim is the biggest joke of the century.

US is pretty stupid not taking land from Germany and Japan after WW2 despite losing hundreds of thousands of men in the war. Russia is smarter and took part of East Prussia including Konigsberg from Germany and Karafuto prefecture + Kuril islands from Japan.

Agree to some extent. If US was like Russia then Japan and other Asian countries will be probably half their sizes today.
However, i think Russia's policy is the best type of policy. Why not annexed countries territories which you defeated? The best way to do it sustainably is to annex as much territory from them and make it part of your country instead of just letting them off and making them an ally like the US did. Once you annexed their territory and incorporate it in your country then its much more better for your country/power projection in the long term. In this aspect Russia has done a fabulous job than most other European /western powers from the 18th century to the 20th century.

If Britain was Russia Hong Kong would have been part of Britain itself not some oversea territory on lease. Russia would have never sign a lease on a territory they took after crushing their enemy. Once Russia takes over a territory then that's it forget about it , since they make it part and parcel of their country . Same reason Japan will never ever get back the kurils islands which Russia seized after WWII. Same way they carved out outer Manchuria from China which has been made part of Russia since then

What aggression? Look at the map of Russian controlled territories in 1990 and in 2020 and compare it to US controlled territories in same period. It is not Russia aggressor of the modern world, we barely can extinguish the flame USA and its serfs firing across the world.
