With all due respect sir, that is incorrect, the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov came to visit Pakistan in April of 2007 and had received high level protocol given to valued friends. The strategic talks began when President Musharraf and President Vladmir Putin met in 2003 at the Kremlin.(Pakistan woos Russia)
This visit in 2007 was to bolster and affirm the relations between Russia and Pakistan. It is worthy to note President Musharraf and China's efforts that generated some level of goodwill in Russia for Pakistan.
Here are some pictures of the visit:

Hard to believe as Russia considers Pakistan a nuclear threat.
I think for Pakistan Chinese option is the best.

I agree, It takes decades for democracy to evolve and Russia is a new comer. She still has a long way to go. Nevertheless she's opening herself up towards the west. The younger generations born into the democratic system have better knowledge of the world than was possible during the Sovjet era. Internet has really opened their eyes and there's no going back.neo you are true that the modern russian generation does not care about the past very much i can say this about moscow atleast where i live but matters about defence deals and diplomacy does no go with general perception however much russia might open up its still a closed country in terns of the right to know? things are done in ways which sometimes gets no answers from the officials and the public opinions hardly matter in this or they really dont care.
Imho Corld War Doctrine died with the USSR, its a multi polar world now where money talk is best spoken language.its upto how pakistan plays its diplomatic card and is able to build up on the relationship is a totally different issue than what the commoner things and officially pakistan is still a partner of the US in its war and continue to receive aids form the US which might not please the eyes of the russian officials
