Russia to deploy S-400 defense missile system to Khmeimim airbase in Syria: Defence Minister

Turkey has made a huge mistake - this downing politically allows Russia to deploy the S-400 without controversy. Now the NATO forces will be highly constrained as to what they can get away with, and Turkey's designs on northern Syria go up in smoke.

Let's see if Turks dare to fly even close to their own border with Syria now.

Why would S-400 be a controversy (or do you mean compared to the S-300)? I would have expected them to deploy defensive missiles at least at their airbases to protect millions of dollars worth of their planes. The only controversy is the other coalition planes would probably refuse to fly due to fear of trigger happy people manning them.

And yet romania joined NATO. Seems to me that the stooges were pro-NATO and sold their fatherland for Dollar. Like Gorbachev and Yeltsin.

Romania started negociations to join NATO after 96.after those traitors lost power. Not that KGB assets didn't stay infiltrated in the state aparatus, some of them still are today but cleaning is done on a scale never seen in here.

Ion Iliescu (Romanian pronunciation: [iˈon iliˈesku] ( listen); born 3 March 1930) is a Romanian politician and statesman, who served asPresident of Romania from 1989 until 1996, and from 2000 until 2004. From 1996 to 2000 and from 2004 until his retirement in 2008, Iliescu was a senator for the Social Democratic Party (PSD), whose honorary president he remains.

He joined the Communist Party in 1953 and became a member of its Central Committee in 1965, however beginning with 1971 he was gradually marginalized by Nicolae Ceaușescu. He had a leading role in the Romanian Revolution, becoming the country's president in December 1989. In May 1990, he became Romania's first freely elected head of state. After a new constitution was approved by popular referendum, he served a further two terms as president, from 1992 to 1996, and from 2000 to 2004, separated by the presidency of Emil Constantinescu, who defeated him in 1996.

Iliescu is widely recognized as a predominant figure in the first fifteen years of post-revolution politics. During his terms Romania joined NATO.

from your own post.
Blame that on the pro Kremlin stooges who ruled Romania after 1990,especially in the 90-96 period when our industry was flattened.

Google Ion Iliescu,Petre Roman, all KGB assets,2nd tier communists who hated the nationalist Ceausescu and who killed him with Moscow backing in 1989.

If he was KGB he never would have joined NATO. But its obvious. Like Gorbachev and Yeltsin ,he was also an opportunist . Ruined his nation like the two buffoons Gorbachev and Yeltsin.

A plethora of developments over the past hours.

1. A Turkish "aid convoy" has been hit inside Syria by "allegedly" Russian fighters. Seven died and trucks are totaled. The "aid" convoy belonged to IHH, a known Islamist relief organization that have been accused of (especially by Germany) providing weapons to Islamist armed groups.

Turkey is reported to deliver weapons in ambulances as well as civilian trucks, under the guise of humanitarian relief.

2. Russian parliament is about to pass a resolution to criminalize the denial of the Armenian Genocide.

3. Syrian FM says, "Turkey violated Syrian sovereignty by attacking Su-24 in its airspace." I guess Russia's air defence systems in Syria will be on high alert in the event of a violation of the Syrian airspace by Turkish jets.

4. PYD leader Salih Muslim Muhammad said "Syrian Kurds ready to co-op with Russia against terrorism."

5. The surviving SU 24s pilot spoke. The navigator of the Russian Su-24 shot down by a Turkish fighter jet on Tuesday insists that his plane did not cross into Turkey’s airspace, and says he was given no visual or radio warning before being fired at.

It’s impossible that we violated their airspace even for a second,” Konstantin Murakhtin told RT and other Russian media. “We were flying at an altitude of 6,000 meters in completely clear weather, and I had total control of our flight path throughout.”

As well as denying Ankara’s assertions that the plane was in Turkey’s airspace, Murakhtin, who says he knows the mission area "like the back of my hand," also refuted Turkish officials’ claims that the pilots were warned repeatedly.

In actual fact, there were no warnings at all. Neither through the radio, nor visually, so we did not at any point adjust our course. You need to understand the difference in speed between a tactical bomber like a Su-24, and that of the F16. If they wanted to warn us, they could have sat on our wing,” said Murakhtin, who is currently recuperating at Russia’s airbase in Latakia, northern Syria.

As it was, the missile hit the back of our plane out of nowhere. We didn’t even have time to make an evasive maneuver.”

6. FM Lavrov stated earlier: "by shooting down a Russian plane on a counter-terrorist mission of the Russian Aerospace Force in Syria, and one that did not violate Turkey’s airspace, the Turkish government has in effect sided with ISIS."

"…Turkey’s actions appear premeditated, planned, and undertaken with a specific objective."

7. Russian air attacks get heaver, pounding on AQ and JN-affiliated terrorists in areas described as Turkmen by Turkey. "Russian warplanes carried out heavy raids in Syria's northern Latakia province on Wednesday, a day after Turkey downed one of Moscow's jets in the area, a monitoring group said.

Warplanes believed to be Russian also carried out strikes near the Turkish border in northern Aleppo province....

"Russian warplanes have since last night been carrying out heavy air strikes on the Jabal Akrad and Jabal Turkman regions" in the north of Latakia province, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights chief Rami Abdel Rahman said.

French MP Proposes Sanctions Against Turkey Over 'Siding With Extremists'

17:43 26.11.2015

European lawmaker Marie-Christine Arnautu, Vice President for Social Affairs of the National Front spoke to Sputnik in an exclusive interview regarding the downing of the Russian Su-24 bomber by the Turkish Air Force.

“Turkey has created a big problem by attacking the Russian aircraft, which was returning from a mission of combating the terrorists. Turkey has revealed its cards” Arnautu said in an interview.

She further said, “I just raised the question on my website and suggested not only strict sanctions against Turkey but also to stop to all negotiations regarding Turkey's accession into the EU. It is quite clear that Turkey is sending weapons and money to the Islamists and leaves open its border, which is like a sieve for jihadists. In addition, after this unfortunate incident, which we have just seen I think that Turkey is indeed at war with those who are waging a war against terrorism.”

“This will be a good test for us… we are talking about war, we are at war… We have a pronounced enemy. Now the main question remains which country and what government is really willing to fight together in the first place against this enemy,” the lawmaker told Sputnik.

She added that fast action needs to be taken and according to her the position of French President Francois Hollande is still very blurred and uncertain.

“I think that the meeting between Putin and Hollande will be crucial. After this meeting Hollande will have to make the final choice. Will he give into the pressure of the financial groups; ultimately it all comes to a question of money and oil? Or will he dare to save France and Russia by helping the coalition that really wants to destroy Islamic fundamentalism and then will develop a real alliance with Russia and Syria,” Arnautu told Sputnik.

Great job to Russia to destroy the fake aid convoy.

Mystery over who bombed Turkish convoy allegedly carrying weapons to militants in Syria

Since the news emerged, media has been furiously speculating about who was behind the attack, what the trucks were transporting, what the convoy’s humanitarian mission was, or maybe it was carrying a more sinister load.

One of the aid workers who survived the incident said the trucks had been deliberately targeted, Reuters reported.

The nature of the ‘humanitarian aid’ is also in question. Turkish media and the IHH say the trucks were transporting humanitarian aid to refugees in Azaz.

However, the Turkish Cumhuriyet newspaper cited sources close to the Syrian government saying the convoy was delivering weapons to terrorist organizations.

The Hawar news agency reported that Turkey repeatedly sent convoys with arms to the Al-Nusra Front and other terrorist organizations under the guise of humanitarian aid.

Reports on Twitter went further – they identified the arms as allegedly “Docka machine guns” and “small arms with ammunitions.”

In the wake of the recent downing of a Russian Air Force bomber over Syria by Turkish fighter jets, some reports suggested the Russians were “avenging” the pilot’s death. Many media outlets thought it was the work of Vladimir Putin.

Anadolu cited ‘Syrian opposition sources,’ who claimed that Russian jets attacked the convoy.

Other sources suggested the airstrikes were carried out by Syrians, without specifying whether it was members of the Syrian Army loyal to President Bashar Assad, or one of the various Syrian rebel groups.

Neither Turkish, nor Russian authorities have yet commented on the incident. However, before the Azaz incident Tayyip Erdogan commented on an event that took place in 2013, when a Turkish security service convoy was stopped on the way to the Bayırbucak region in northwestern Syria. The Turkish president said: “If there were any weapons, then what? And if there weren't, what would change?”

Egypt Interested in Replacing Turkish Goods on Russian Market

(updated 03:04 30.11.2015)

Cairo asked Moscow to provide it with a list of goods recently prohibited or restricted for import to Russia from Turkey to replace them Egyptian goods, Egypt's Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade said in a statement Sunday.

CAIRO (Sputnik) – According to the statement, the issue was discussed by Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Trade Tarek Kabil and his Russian counterpart, Denis Manturov, at a meeting in the United Arab Emirates.

Payback Time: Russian Sanctions to ‘Hurt Turkey Badly’

“Egypt is interested to meet the needs of the Russian market in goods, especially those that came from Turkey, in light of Russia's decision to limit the Turkish imports to the Russian market in fruit and vegetables to 66 percent, as well as in clothing and leather," the statement said.

Relations between Russia and Turkey escalated after the downing of a Russian Su-24 Fence in Syrian airspace by the Turkish Air Force on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to boost national security and introduce economic measures against Turkey, including restrictions in labor, travel and trade spheres.
