Russia tests Sineva submarine-launched ballistic missile

Russia has successfully test-fired a Sineva submarine-launched ballistic missile in the Barents Sea, a Defense Ministry spokesman said on Friday.

The missile hit the designated target at the Kura test range in the Far East in time, Col. Igor Konashenkov said.

The RSM-54 Sineva (NATO codename SS-N-23 Skiff) is a third-generation liquid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile that entered service with the Russian Navy in July 2007. It has a maximum range of over 10,000 km (6,214 miles) and can carry four to 10 nuclear warheads, depending on the modification.

The previous Sineva test launch was held in April.

Its really awesome that this missile can operate from under sea
really great technology by Russia,I hope Pakistan would take similar leaps in its NAVY

Read my post. Did I say we will buy them. The missile has a USP. We will be interested in that part of it. Submarines when they come close to sea level risk detection. The missiles can be launched 50+ m under the sea.

Russia is a responsible country.
On the other hand India also needs such technology especially now that we have nuclear submarines for a nuclear triad.
