This is not the first time. Also this is what happens if we depend completely on one country. Just imagine what Russia can do if we give MMRCA to them again. Its nothing personnel, its just business.

I know why you said this but HAL has alot of experience and they could do this. The only thing here is whether they are allowed by the contract or not.

I think the price is 2.33 billion $ and even that include 12 single-seat Mikoyan MiG-29K 'Fulcrum-D' and 4 dual-seat MiG-29KUB aircraft (with an option for 14 more aircraft).

This is the reason that India must choose to be closer to be with either Russia or US. If India strategically stand with Russia, than Russia would not do such a thing to screw India as India is more than just a milking cow. The same would apply to the relationship with the US. US would not trust India unless India cuts its tie with Russia, including the PAKFA for the India's FGFA project.
Come to think of it, if Russia is ripping off India on such as simple upgrade, I wonder how much they they screw India when it comes to a big project such as FGFA. They must be licking their chops and already spending money base on how much more they can con from India. India is a penny wise, pound foolish country.

Will you kindly stop this nonsense? If the DRDO was capable of designing and manufacturing a supersonic cruise missile like the Brahmos on its own, we would never have gone to the Russians. The fact is that they can't and no one but the Russians would give us the tech to do it. So stop trying to blame our armed forces for the failures of our domestic government owned defence industry.

Modifying the under carriage of the SU-30 MKIs for carriage of Brahmos is not the same as designing and making the SU-30 MKIs. If the IAF is silent today, it is because the IAF is depending on the SUs and the PAK FAs to defend India from the threats around us. Believe me, the day the DRDO/HAL comes up with fighters comparable to these, no one will talk about Russians or foreign stuff. Till then, tall claims are just that, not worth the paper they are printed on.

Yes, we should not bow down to Russian arm twisting which is as bad as American arm twisting. But, honestly, DRDO fan boys should know when to stop. You are way out of your league here.

Thanks for a sensible posting. If all Indian think like you do, India would not only be able to modify the SU-30MKI, but also create your own 5th generation fighter. But too bad most Indian in here do not seem to have common sense like you do. Because the #1 step of making progress is to know where you are.
