IAF denied mig35 in past.

And in my opinion it was because India wanted to diversify its arsenal different from Russian aircraft. So the country of origin may have been their reason instead of performance of platform.

And if this is not an issue anymore, platform could be re-evaluated.

They tried to promot Mig-29 to China at early 1990s, we denied them at the first place and went for Su-27. Mig-29 is notoriously short legged.

Just because you denied, does not mean its not a good plane, west once feared of Mig 29 against F 16 even Germany purchased these planes. It is a very good fighter plane, we have even upgraded them. Second IAF has already maintained that quality wise we have an edge on you guys. You purchased su 27, we purchased SU 30, you purchased su 30. We have had Su 30 MKI, you purchased Su 35, its going to be Rafale for us. You are producing J 20, we would have FGFA or F 35 for that matter. Indians are we much satisfied with MIG 29, it just we need next Generation fighter planes.

The IAF would be better off buying retired Mirage 2000's from France. MIG is known for horrible support after purchase.

No more MIGs please, IAF will go with more Rafael jets in the follow up order. I am sure of this, India always buy more after the initial batch.

Pakistan is evaluating all the options....Mirage-2000-9 from UAE, J-10C, used F-16s, J-11/16, J-31 and J-20

It has 8 weapon hangers vs 6 of MIG 29K . Means more firepower .Range can be extended to double that of mig29 . RCS reduced 20 times of MIG 29 . This could be best alternative for mig29 K for Indian Navy. Navy have to spend over 20 billion Dollars if they want to by 57 rafale for Carrier . That's foolish . Rafale can only be used from Catapult system which we don't have and will have Only one after 10 years or more.

F18 is totally new concept for Indian armed forces m neither we don't have any neighbors with f18 .

Mig35 will be less costly in service TEMS as we have moderate arrangements in maintaining mig29 . With more or less same size Mig35 can be made available for all the Carrier we will operate .

Cheapest and lightest long-range multi role fighter . Why is not a good deal dude ?


For Airforce it's a different ball game. MiGs are in talks to open vast base in India for maintaining Mig29 fleet . Now replacement of MIG 29 are huge chunk in IAF Navy . Why not replace MIG 29K /UPG with more powerful Mig35 ...

If we select Mig35 for Navy.will be better deal in longer and in short term

New validation of Mig35 should be made. If we can reduce RCS furthermore and add more advanced avionics from rest of the world . We will be having cheapest medium Range multirole bombers. There are many countries still using MiGs of the past and want to replace them.many could prefer Mig35 as they are well familiar and have lots of expertise . So in Long run Mig35 will be flying for many many decade's to come

Well we are getting new maintaining hub in India soon . What you think about that.

See Those days of Soviets are long gone. This govt is very clear and said "See Russia ur after sale support is pathetic and it hindering our operationally. So we can't buy if you don't want to allow us to make critical equipment at home".

This has been our tussle for over few years and Putin as crazy head tried different ball game by indulging with pakist cpec China etc. They even stopped bramos sales to Vietnam for years .

For good.Modi played it better. By aligning with the West. That too quite openly at global level. That should have sent a strong message accross Russian military Political establishment and need for change in policy. Russia has lots to loss than India if US NATO Western powers can win over sentiments in India. At times of war as we seen in the past One old honest friend is better than two or more new friends .

So as the result and Ian glad that Russia changed it policy by passing special law which now could allow smaller and bigger OEM of Sukois and MiGs and other weapon manufacturer can negotiate and make deals with Indian Private public Ltd to manufacture critical equipment in India to improve serviceability of Russian weapons.

Please don't keep bringing this after sale support problem's anymore.

May I know on basics you claim it ? Even MIG 29 was not for Navy. Later it was fine tuned for naval requirements. Mig29 were made for air superiority. Russian always viewed Twin engine light fighters over single engine light gets like F16,J10

Lets say you already have 10 150cc pulsar bikes at home, would you still purchase bajaj pulsar 180cc ? when HAYABUSA Is in market and you have money to spend. Mig 35 can carry more pay loads because of bigger engines. Second it just does not meet IAF requirements. Second you are mixing it with Mig 29 k naval version which is newly purchased fighters and we are not looking replacement for MIG 29k yet, even if we are it would be Fifth Generation may be F 35 and we are already working on LCA naval version. IAF so far has not given 1 % hint that they wish to purchase Mig 35. If does not wants to have a single country dependency. Never keep your all eggs in same basket. Russia and Pakistan friendship is not even half as strong as Pakistan and China.
Pakistan doesn't buy everything it was offered, Jh-7A and J-10 was offered to Pakistan but Pakistan decided against it.
