Russia in talks with India for $30 billion pipeline

30 billion dollar is a lot of money for poor hungry Indians. Sure you wanna gamble that away...

Fortunately or unfortunately we have not seen any of our pipeline projects be it IPI or TAPI see the daylight. All have been put on back burner and this will see the same fate too. 30 billion dollars is not chip change for us to gamble it away. Maybe with Rawami dalal in power we can rope in Bangladesh and make is RBI pipeline.

That is why we modernise our Navy .Indian Navy sphere of influence expand from Gulf of Aden to Malacca Strait.
Considering future expansion plans ,we have a leverage here.
Besides Iran underwater pipeline project is progressing.So if we have both the pipelines increasing oil import from Iran and rest through ships alone solve China threat .
GoI knows what are they doing.

Strategic thinking not only involves strengthening ones own strengths but also reducing the weaknesses as much as possible ..... GOI knows what it is doing and the reason why Pipe line with Iran and Oman is progressing at a faster rate compared to any other pipe line under consideration.

Lets end this discussion on the basis that GOI know what it is doing !!

There is another alternate way for the pipe line through Iran and from there under water pipeline will guarantee the continuous supply just in case there are frictions between India and China.

There shouldn't be any friction with India and China, in such a case, the winner will be US and the west. Both the government should find a peaceful alternative for a progressive future.

There should be no friction between India and China. When both sides realize this then only it is possible.

It is far better to minimize dependency on chinese trade and imports, build our capabilities and then talk about peace.

No one will listen to peace talk unless you have a stick in your hand, Chinese respect the stick in your hand. If building capabilities means leaning towards Japan and other countries backed by west so be it.

India only have to survive the military might of rising china and have to build its economy and military.

We should evaluate the offer and if it is worth, then should sign the deal.

The only worrying part is this pipeline will come through China.

If only Nehru had listened to Patel in 1948 war, we could have directly had the oil pipeline into India via j&k.

But this pipeline is better if it goes through Iran. I don't know how they plan to bring it through the Himalayan terrain.

We do know that Russia has presence upto tajikistan,Infact even they were offering Pakistan 10k MW of electricity through Central asian countries.

Tajikistan and Pakistan are seperated by Wakhan corridor which can be either captured by Pakistan on Indian request otherwise,We don't need any permission from anyone if the pipeline from Tajikistan enter into Pakistan through Wakhan Corridor.

It will improve the relations in the region and will also earn alot of transit revenue's for Pakistan and ofcourse a safe route for India aswell

Nothing mate, just like all the other pipeline deals it too has hit a road block. Lack of funding and not must interest from the parties to fund and move the deal, plus India's distrust of Pakistan has practically made the pipeline unfeasible.

And Pakistan already has just recently build a Road link with tajikistan.

Through iran it will go through a long distance apart from than into the sea for thousand of miles.

The only cost effective route is through Pakistan

That's true, frankly this project will not see the light of day for decades. It would be more cost effective by importing oil and gas from Russia via sea.

The only pipeline we should concentrate on is Iran - India.
