Russia is much more safe than the foreigner can think it is. People are people and of course you may see a lot of freaks and jerks, as well as in any other country. I would say that 99% of other people's behaviour depends on the way you are looking and acting. If you act normal then in most cases you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
