Russia claims 15,500mph missiles can destroy West's F-35 jets 370 miles away in 90 SECONDS

RUSSIA claims its 15,500mph missiles can down the most advanced US and UK jets from 370 miles away in just 90 seconds.
Kremlin officials announced today the next generation of S-500 surface-to-air missiles will be deployed.
Moscow has boasted the missiles will be able to intercept targets with hypersonic speeds of Mach 20.
Russian media have reported the weapon is expected to be able to shoot down jets with the F-35, the most advanced warplane in the arsenal of the West.
Britain and the US both use the plane in the air force and navy, with a wing of them set to begin service on new Royal Navy flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth.
Defence officials have said the missiles will be ready to be deployed to the battlefield in the “near future”.
The new system, designed by Almaz Antey, has a range of more than 370 miles at altitudes of 120 miles, claim the Russians.
Reports say it can simultaneously intercept up to ten ballistic and hypersonic missiles.
And the missiles are said to travel at a speed of 4.3 miles per second, or nearly 15,500mph.
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu previously said the first S-500 delivery to troops would be in 2020.
Commandant of the Zhukov Air-Space Academy, Lt-Gen Vladimir Lyaporov, said: “In 2019, the first group of officers will complete a training course to use the S-500, a long-range system that will form the backbone of Russia’s integrated air defence and missile defence system.”
He told Red Star newspaper – owned by the Russian Defence Ministry – that “the systems are yet to enter service - but we expect them to do so in the near future”.
In May last year, US intelligence sources revealed that Russia had used the S-500 in a test to strike a target at 299 miles, some 50 miles further than any known previous hit.
And that means the new system has reportedly smashed the record by another 71 miles.
