Russia, China to build heavy transport chopper

Russia and China will jointly design and manufacture a new heavy-lift helicopter, a Russian deputy industry minister said Tuesday.

Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said the helicopter could be based on the Russian Mi-26 and the two sides are currently discussing the new machine's specifications taking into account the China's domestic needs.

'This machine will be oriented toward the Chinese market and the project will be commercial,' he said.

The Mi-26 Halo, a heavy transport helicopter with civilian and military applications, is the largest and most powerful helicopter ever to have gone into production.

You forgot to mention fastest transportation helicopter. Maximum Speed of 295 km/h, as comparison, Apache AH-64's top speed is only 182 mph, 293 km/h

well they need to see the fuel consuption of MI 26 firstly it drinks fuel as it is water if they can bring it half with this same perfomance surely more orders will come for MI 26 even from europe and even from civilan transport coompanies
