India has bought $16 Billion worth weapons from Russia in last 3 years alone out of total $36 Billion(40%). And besides that Russia has offered almost every thing to India and we bought some while evaluating/refused some.
Current procurements: Su-30MKI, Mig-29K, T-90 MBTs, Ins Vikramaditya, Brahmos(joint venture), 150+ Mi-17s, Talwar class frigates, Akula class SSN, kilo class upgradations, mig-29s upgradations, mki upgradations, An-32 upgradations, anti-tank missiles, aa missiles etc etc.

Future procurements: 200+ Pak-Fa/FGFA(joint venture), Medium Transport Aircraft(joint venture), Brahmos2(joint venture), 1 more Akula class SSN,etc etc

Evaluations: Amur class submarines(which is a strong contender), 3 more Talwar class frigates(very much likely),more kilo class on lease(unlikely imo) etc,etc.

The article depicting like India and China is just competing to buy weapons from Russia. The buying is as per requirement and everything is available for both us.

From a business perspective, this is good strategy by the Russians, selling tech to India, then tell the Chinese we sell u something more advanced, once that is done, they go back to the Indians and say we can sell you something more advanced than the Chinese and the cycle continues.

This is provided of course that China and India continues to buy from the Russians.
