A Russian-Chinese commission on investment cooperation has selected nearly 60 business initiatives to be put in the works, Russia's President Vladimir Putin announced on Saturday during an official visit to Beijing.
"Fifty-eight various business initiatives with the total volume of investments being $50 billion, have been selected," Putin told journalists in the Chinese capital. Twelve of the projects are already being implemented, he added.

Putin is accompanied by a number of top officials and companies' heads on the trip. The head of the Kremlin Administration Sergey Ivanov, five deputy prime-ministers and several ministers, as well as the heads of Rosneft and Gazprom oil and gas companies, all went to China. Some 50 documents were expected to be signed during the visit, with Putin meeting not only President Xi Jinping, but also other top Chinese officials.

A number of energy deals have been secured between the two nations, including agreements on selling of stakes in several Russian projects to Chinese companies. Russia's top oil producer, Rosneft agreed with China National Chemical Corporation (ChemChina) that the Chinese firm would take a 40 percent stake in Rosneft's planned petrochemical complex in Russia's Far East.

An oil supply contract, under which Russia could deliver up to 2.4 million ton of crude oil to ChemChina in a year's time, has also been agreed upon.

An intergovernmental agreement on a large aviation project has also been reached. The sides have agreed to work on a new wide-body long-range aircraft, which could carry up to 300 passengers. The new plane in the works is seen as a potential rival to Airbus and Boeing, to become part not only of Russian and Chinese, but also other nations' fleets.

Saying that Moscow and Beijing have been doing "very meaningful work," and can boast a "very profound discussion that ends with a result," the Russian president stressed that the two nations always manage to find "a balance of interests."

This time, the two states have agreed to expand mutual payments in national currencies, to decrease dependency on external factors.

While Russia-China bilateral relations are mostly based on economic cooperation, the two nations still successfully build their partnership in other spheres, including international affairs, Putin said.

Putin stressed that such joint efforts "contribute to the stability of world affairs," where Russian and Chinese views "are either very similar or coincide." Besides the United Nations, Putin noted the importance of cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa association). The SCO, Putin said, remains an "essential element" that ensures stability and security in the region, as he expressed hope that more nations would join the bloc.

The two leaders have also discussed the G20 summit, which China will be hosting this year in September. While Xi has officially invited Putin to the summit, Russia's leader promised his counterpart support and possible assistance in hosting the summit.

Putin arrived in Beijing the day after he met with Xi on the sidelines of SCO summit in Uzbekistan. Putin's last official visit to Beijing was less than a year ago, in September. Last year, the two presidents met as many as five times. Since 2013, they’ve had some 15 meetings.

Regular interactions between Moscow and Beijing strengthen "good-neighborly" relations and cooperation, Putin said. Addressing Xi as "dear friend," he said: "We meet very frequently and regularly... each of our meetings is profound in character. This is not just due to the formal event, the 15th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship, good-neighborly relations and cooperation... It's [also] due to the demand from the Chinese and the Russian people to strengthen and develop our relations."

Now that is some awesome news. :enjoy:

Things are moving the right direction :) and China slowly but steadily building more business opportunities, a well integrated approach from CPEC through Pakistan and HSRs through Russia, it seems the stage is set for paradigm shift in global economy; Asia leading the world..at a time when EU is in shambles.

Now that is some awesome news. :enjoy:

Energy (includes equity stake)
Transportation (high speed rail)
Finance (currency swap)

This is China's unofficial response to and stance toward the US-led sanctions on Russia.

No wonder that currently China and Russia are each other's largest energy trade partner.

Energy diplomacy is being effectively used to promote overall relations, including geostrategic relations.

I'm looking forward to technological cooperation the most, like the large aviation project that was mentioned.

Russia has always been strong when it comes to tech, many people forget that Russia actually beat the US in the first space race.

Energy deals are essential, but the tech cooperation is the most exciting part for me. :enjoy:

Yes, I forgot about the joint work on wide-body civilian aircraft, heavy-lift helicopter as well as cargo plane projects, if I remember correctly.

Besides, the two leadership need to now talking about further institutionalization of their relationship; one of them being the cooperation framework between OBOR and EEU. This is essential for China's Eurasian expansion.

With the EU in potential political turmoil (if not already is), China and Russia can seek further influence in Western Europe during the absence of the UK.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been meeting with China's top leadership following his arrival in Beijing on Saturday.

On top of signing a number of agreements, Putin is also in China to help mark a pair of strategic milestones between the two countries.

CRI's Victor Ning has more.

Welcoming Putin in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping has noted two important events in China-Russia relations.

"Twenty years ago China and Russia established the strategic partnership of coordination, 15 years ago we signed the China-Russia Good-Neighborly Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. These two agreements have major significance for our relationship."

The two presidents have agreed to beef up mutual support and enhance trust in their countries' political and strategic development.

Acknowledging that both nations are the world's major economies and emerging markets, Xi Jinping says China and Russia should push forward the joint advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Eursian Economic Union, which includes Russia as a member state.

On Saturday, the two presidents witnessed the signing of more than 30 cooperation deals, covering trade, infrastructure, technology and agriculture, among other areas.

"The relevant departments and firms of both countries signed a large batch of agreements. This visit of President Putin has produced bountiful results. It has brought new propulsion and vitality to the overall strategic partnership of China and Russia."

For his part, Putin has echoed Xi Jinping's sentiment, pointing out China-Russian economic cooperation is especially important given a volatile world market.

"We are pursuing cooperation in the area of economy, China is the first trade partner of Russia. The world economy is not stable in many areas, such as currency and energy, and this has affected us."

Beyond the economy, the two presidents also discussed a number of international issues.

Xi Jinping says both countries should further enhance their bilateral ties and contribute to global strategic balance and stability.

Putin says Russia and China share similar positions in international affairs, and it is necessary for both countries to maintain close communication and coordination.

"Of course we talked about many other issues. Russia and China hold similar positions, and sometimes the same position on a number of international issues. We will continue dialogue on international affairs."

The two presidents have also agreed to enhance people-to-people exchanges between China and Russia.

Following their talks on Saturday, Xi and Putin also signed three joint statements, in the areas of bilateral relations, global strategic stability and the development of information and cyber space, respectively.

On Saturday, Putin also met with Chinese Premiere Li Keqiang and top legislator Zhang Dejiang. Issues of economic cooperation and legislative affairs were on the agenda of those meetings.

The current visit by Putin is his fourth trip to China since President Xi Jinping took office in 2013.

For CRI, I'm Victor Ning.

Also keep in mind cooperation on cyber security and information dissemination capability through international media.

The two need to cooperate more on these.

Going Hyperloop: Russia’s Part of New Silk Road to be High-Speed Railway

Los Angeles-based company Hyperloop One plans to build a high-speed cargo railway across Russia, to deliver goods from China to Europe within the New Silk Road initiative, company’s co-founder and CEO Shervin Pishevar said.

Russia Seeks to Attract Chinese Funds for High-Speed Hyperloop
Earlier, Hyperloop One, the Russian group of companies Summa, and the Moscow government signed a memorandum to create the concept of the use of Hyperloop technology in Moscow.
According to Pishevar, if the railway is built the delivery time from China to Europe via Russia would decrease to just one day.

The Silk Road Economic Belt is one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in Eurasia. It is expected to transform transportation infrastructure across the continent, including several transit corridors from China to Europe.

The company said the cost of the project is yet to be assessed.

On June 21, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Pishevar during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The Russian president pledged to support the idea.

The issue was not about financial support since the project was an investment.

Transforming Eurasia: Expectations and Real Prospects of China’s New Silk Road
On June 16, Russian Transport Minister Maksim Sokolov said that the Russian government proposed the Primorye-2 transportation corridor as the pilot stage for Hyperloop. According to the minister, the initiative may cost up to 30-40 billion rubles ($470-625 million).
In addition, Russia’s railway monopoly Russian Railways (RZD) is also interested in adopting the technology.

Initially, the Hyperloop concept was proposed by prominent US businessman and engineer Elon Musk and subsequently made publicly available. The concept envisages the use of capsules transported via reduced-pressure tubes, which would make it possible to reach speeds of up to 1,200 kmh.
On May 12, Hyperloop One conducted the first test of a high-speed transport propulsion system.

It is a major failure that Russia despite being a global power cannot raise its currency to the status of global reserve and has to depend on its former communist ally China for loans and funding...80 years ago before communist took over Kremlin Russia was one of the wealthiest countries in the world..its pathetic how socialism can destroy a country permanently...there is no recovery from Socialism..

Point to be noted this oughta SHUT those who always say---- "We are the next super power, we hold tremendous sway over Russia, since we buy their weapons"
