US Marine Corps Osprey have taken up residence on the flight deck of the Royal navy HMS Ocean for a series of US/UK exercises.

For several weeks the MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft will fly off the deck of HMS Ocean transporting US and Royal Marines from ship to shore as they conduct amphibious assault training in the Mediterranean.

Able to carry up to 24 personnel, the Osprey can travel further, faster and higher than helicopters meaning greater reach for the men of 45 Commando Royal Marines currently deployed on Cougar 15 the Royal Navy’s annual deployment of the UK’s high readiness maritime expeditionary force

Leading the charge: The audacious operation was co-oridinated by the Royal Navy's flagship, HMS Ocean
HMS Ocean is your new fleet flagship (2015) as far as I know, how do I know that name? :)
That is a good looking picture, cool ship :enjoy:

@Nihonjin1051 , brother, I have read somewhere that the Japanese Navy was patterned from the Royal Navy and the IJN's first major warships were made in England. Can you please elaborate on this?

Yes, actually the Imperial Navy was modeled from the British Royal Navy. Our naval commanders were schooled in British military academies ; the formation , and attack doctrine of the Imperial Navy was based on theirs. Tho there was an American influence in regards to torpedo boat doctrine; which we used in combination with our battle cruisers and battleships when we eviscerated the Russian Navy during the Russo Japanese War of 1904-1905.

Our Army was modeled on Prussian doctrine , and American cavalry doctrine especially seen during the Siberian Campaign, and also in China. :]

Out cavaliers did make use of Prussian style lancer attack formation and standard. This was seen when we crushed the Russians in the Battle of Port Arthur when our cavaliers eradicated the Russian infantry reserves. Btw, we gave no quarters to them. Dead , every last man.

@James Jaevid ,@Nihonjin1051 The Royal Navy ruled the four seas and was obviously looked upon by other naval powers, reason many countries(not just Japan) modeled their navy based on the Royal Navy. The Japanese were not a small player either, since by 1920s to early 30s Japan had the world's third largest/most powerful navy after the Royal Navy and U.S navy .
The Royal Navy also played a crucial role in helping Japan defeat the Mighty Russian Baltic fleet during the Russo-Japanese war of 1905 where Russia's Pacific fleet was destroyed and then when the Russian sent in their even larger Baltic fleet sailing across the world to fight Japan, the Japanese destroyed Russia's entire fleet to the last ship. Even the Royal Navy(and western powers) was surprised Russia was so easily defeated. This made Russia to seize having any influence in Asia(through Manchuria/Korea) and cede its position to Japan who then emerged as the undisputed power in Asia, it also made Russia to stop being a naval power not until well after WWII.
You can read more here if you are interested.
