Row over 'untouchable' Indian dog

OT: Whatever her journalistic ethos, she's very pretty to look at (hint: Google). Felt I should get that out. :agree:

So is the other brass tacks zaid hamid flunkie. But thats irrelevent. Whats relevant is the open lies one spouts just to flame and how thats tolerated.

Brahmin???

Where did that come from? Your childhood training? Adding such bull is just the kind of journalism you do, and its shameful.

The term achut comes from ashudh which means unclean .
Anyway my friends used to say they have to bath in sand if they touch dog. My god it is difficult to get sand to bath in USA. U have to got to beach or kroger. You cant dig up in apt. That was the fun part of it. I did some search and here is what i think caused the confusion.
Abu Hurayrah reports that the Prophet [once] said: When a dog puts his mouth in some utensil wash it seven times and scrub it with mud the seventh time as well. (Abu Da‘wud: Kitab al-Taharah)

So basically dog is achut.
I understand it is about caste system. But just pointed out that when a religion that classifies entire world who dont believe in them as kafirs treating several of god creations as unclean, treating them with great respect by eliminating them doesn't have much right to blame others. If u take any religion there is caste system. Only difference is Islam does not have it built in and still most muslims (because they are humans ) practice it in one way or other. Human beings by nature has to classify. otherwise why do we have moderator caste and admin caste who can delete threads and posts in this board and people who cant. We have it right here . One way or other class establishes order.

Classic case of wild goose chase. You are talking about everything but the caste system. Admit it.

Millions of people in India are looked down as less than a upper caste dog.

He is trying to divert attention to the chemistry of the dog from the real issue of the cast based system among Hindus in India.

he is not coming to the point that the lower cast woman was forced to pay Rs15,000 as compensation just because she touched the dog of a upper class hindu and the poor dog was also declared lower cast after he was touched by the woman

Dog cast(e) away after dalit touch

BHOPAL: A dog's life couldn't get worse. A mongrel brought up in an upper caste home in Morena was kicked out after the Rajput family members discovered that their Sheru had eaten a roti from a dalit woman and was now an "untouchable". Next, Sheru was tied to a pole in the village's dalit locality. His controversial case is now pending with the district collector, the state police and the Scheduled Caste Atrocities police station in Morena district of north MP.

The black cur, of no particular pedigree, was accustomed to the creature comforts in the home of its influential Rajput owners in Manikpur village in Morena. Its master, identified by the police as Rampal Singh, is a rich farmer with local political connections.

A week ago Sunita Jatav, a dalit woman, was serving lunch to her farm labourer husband. "There was a 'roti' left over from lunch. I saw the dog roaming and fed it the last bread," Sunita said. "But when Rampal Singh saw me feeding the dog and he grew furious. He yelled: 'Cobbler woman, how dare you feed my dog with your roti?' He rebuked me publicly. I kept quiet thinking the matter would end there. But it got worse," she said.

On Monday, Rampal ex-communicated the dog. A village panchayat was called, whi- ch decided that Sheru would now have to live with Sunita and her family because it had become an untouchable. Sunita Jatav was fined Rs 15,000.

An outraged Sunita and her brother Nahar Singh Jatav rushed to Sumawali police station. They were directed to take the matter to the SC/ST Atrocities police station in Kalyan. "When we went there, the officer asked us why we fed the dog," recalls Nahar. "So we went to the DSP in the SC/ST Atrocities department and submitted a memorandum to him, as also to the district collector. But no one has registered our FIR so far.

DSP SC/ST Atrocities (Morena), Baldev Singh, recalls, "We got a complaint in which it has been alleged that a dog was declared untouchable and a dalit family fined for feeding it. We are investigating the allegation," said the officer.

India's a 3rd world country. And its in rural India. Why are you people surprised by this? Things like this happens in 3rd world countries!

.
India has a population of over 1.2 billion and is still not 100% literate, casteism still exist in many a places in rural India but thankfully Indian is moving towards a casteless society. People from so called backwards castes are given 50% reservation in education, jobs and even in promotions. Probably in the next 20-25 years we will see caste bias gone from Indian society altogether.

I guess the world (especially Pakistan) expects a lot from India and wants India to be world leader, but no guys we are not yet perfect we have a long way to go :(

ps: I just love dogs :smitten:
