I thought in islam all dogs are untouchables. Should we report that to BBC. I think all pigs and dogs are going to protest now. My poor muslim friends used to run for cover when neighbour brings out their dogs.
The issue here is NOT The dog but the touching by a low cast Hindu Dalit woman of the dog of a upper cast Hindu brahmin.
this issues are still in the u.p n bihar,
It needs social training for changing behaviour on ground to deal with such issues. Awareness is the key
Its been a long time rather too long to have such issues still around
india have left this issues behind.now india cant wait for ppl to grow in this fast world.those who want to come , join the race.this is the thing coming from 100 of yrs back.we cant remove this immediately anotherwise they will be common in the news in these areas.it will take generation to remove this.govt can just provide money not respect.
truly saying ,it is deeply involved in india.even the rich which are of some particular race will be considered like this ,leave their money.i think atleast after two generations there can be improvement. Its far older issue than of 100 years.
And very right Govt can provide money not respect. But then i see hardly any support for change from learned internet warriors here as well.
You have seen one such post already where someone was shying away by comparing
Dogs aren't untouchable... they are only unhygienic and can't be taken as pets due to germs- similar to the swine but to a lesser degree. During the Prophet Muhammad's time, a dog came and urinated in the mosque. The companions got angry and went to hit the dog, but the Prophet stopped them and said not to hurt the dog and to just clean up the mess it had left behind.
Your 'poor Muslim friends' would have been told otherwise... we have a lot of that in Pakistan and India. This isn't about dogs, this is about the caste system dude.
The term achut comes from ashudh which means unclean .
Anyway my friends used to say they have to bath in sand if they touch dog. My god it is difficult to get sand to bath in USA. U have to got to beach or kroger. You cant dig up in apt. That was the fun part of it. I did some search and here is what i think caused the confusion.
Abu Hurayrah reports that the Prophet [once] said: When a dog puts his mouth in some utensil wash it seven times and scrub it with mud the seventh time as well. (Abu Dawud: Kitab al-Taharah)
So basically dog is achut.
what a poor attempt for a slumdog indian

Adding such bull is just the kind of journalism you do, and its shameful.
OT: Whatever her journalistic ethos, she's very pretty to look at (hint: Google). Felt I should get that out.
