What's new

Roketsan's Teber laser guidance kit will be integrated in BAF F-7BG

The nature and depth of the bond between us and Pakistan is an issue that well known by everyone. There's nothing hidden here.

But Bangladesh is one of the states in which we will maintain mutual respect and love. Therefore, we have a positive attitude towards all kinds of strategic cooperation and capability transfer.

Yes, we know that there are some historical problems between Pakistan and Bangladesh. We are trying to comply with the sensitivity of this situation. Our hope that these two countries will re-establish a bond of trust in the near future while increase their position in the regional sense.

ps: As a continuation of the TEBER project, Roketsan also developing the LAÇİN Guidance Kit and LaçinPOD

Laçin POD is being developed for real-time control and different attack profiles of the LAÇİN Guidance Kit which will operate with three different guidance modes in accordance with MK-81 and MK-82 general purpose bombs. Lacin POD (L-POD) includes "RS Data Link Unit" for conjugate with Lacin guidance kit and "Lacin Interface Unit" for compliance with aircrafts.

LAÇİN Guidance Kit has Infrared Seeker and Imager Head (IIR), Data Link Terminal, maximum 40.000ft bomb drop altitude, 2774mm length and 262kg weight. Planned to use against caves and moving targets.

Together with AselPOD and LacinPOD with various types of guidance kits which can be applied to general purpose bomb types; all weather+all altitudes hit accuracy with minumum circular error probable has risen to very important level.

Well politics is shit & diverting us from the topic at hand.

Though this report says this upgraded bombs will be used in BGI's, I suspect they will eventually find their ways to the Mitten's squadron, since they are already moded to carry MK81/82 & capable of support many western origin systems.

BGI too is capable of doing so. The integration cost would be minimal since BAF is capable to carry out such an upgrade.

Where do we source our MK81/82s from? They are free fall gravity bombs?

I didn't realize BD had Mk 81 and 82.

Yes they are free fall bombs.

Also, I wonder if more Yak-130 are in the cards then?

If they seem to be taking an air to ground role more so than training.

Mk 81 and 82 are US made. Unless we are talking about gravity bombs of similar standards from Chinese, Russian or other sources.

Also why more Yak-130 will be required for these bombs? Are we not going to buy multi-roles?

USA gave us some for training during the '90s. Then we got some from the gulf war & other sources. Currently we buy from turkey & other countries if needed. These are not high tech stuffs, so nothing big.

And BOF does make some "home grown solutions " which BAF used to deploy with the A-5, mostly of Chinese/Soviet design.

Yeah, I think we should produce the dumb bombs, they are not alien tech. Then we can buy the guidance kits of various types for precision.

Azerbaijan's SU-25 squadron will use the laser guidance kit (LGK) together with its own bombs. So there is also an important experience in adapting these kits to Russian standards. Nor is it a difficult process to apply to Russian bombs.

US made weapon is expensive, you can get similar bomb to be used with Turkish guidance kit from Indonesia.

Dislitbangau, the Indonesian air force’s research and development institute, is highlighting its work with a range of weapons and systems being shown on its external display. The institute has designed a series of weapons for aerial deployment by aircraft of both Western and Russian origin, to match the types in the air force inventory.

The range of bombs includes P-250, P-500L and BTN-250 for Russian aircraft such as the Su-27/30, and BT-125/250/500 general-purpose bombs for Western aircraft such as the F-16 and Hawk. They are low-drag weapons similar to the Mk 80 series. They are complemented by full-size and ballistic-representative training weapons in the BLA series.

Dislitbangau has also developed a GPS-guided smart bomb, the BP-250 X1, based on the BT-250 free-fall weapon. The guided bomb has a wing kit and a tail guidance section containing GPS receiver, guidance control, battery and moveable fins. The weapon has NATO-standard lugs for carriage by F-16s and Hawks, and while still in the development phase is in limited service with the air force.
