Officials of the two countries met in Bangladesh's capital of Dhaka on Monday to discuss the crisis amid mounting international pressure.

The Myanmar delegation was led by Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor of Myanmar Kyaw Tint Swe. The Bangladeshi delegation included Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Kamal.

"Myanmar has proposed taking back the Rohingya refugees. We have agreed on forming a joint working group to oversee the repatriation process," Minister Ali told the media in Dhaka after the talks.

Nearly half a million Rohingyas have fled to Bangladesh since the start of a military crackdown in the Myanmar border state of Rakhine.
The refugees have claimed the Myanmar security forces are shooting at civilians, setting fire to their homes and raping Rohingya women.

Myanmar’s de-facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who won the Nobel Peace Prize for her contribution to restoring democracy to the country, sent the minister of her office to Bangladesh amid international pressure over the crisis, which the UN has called an ‘ethnic cleansing’.

Despite her party's win in 2015's elections, the Myanmar Army controls the majority of the government, including the defence authorities.

If these awami stooges fall for Myanmar trap, Rohigya's and Bangladesh will suffer for life. Any solution should be under UN in accordance to Annan recommendation and BD proposal at UN. This is where UN should hold China responsible for implementing the initiative. Any bilateral agreement is utter sham and a sheer trap.

@idune, Absolutely agree with your well thought out remarks. Both the UN along with China must be directly involved in solving these heinous acts of Ethnic Cleansing, acts of barbaric Genocide and blatant Crimes against Humanity, this is definitely not a Bilateral issue any longer, the entire global community has awoken against these repressive acts.Due Justice must be meted out and the guilty brought before the International court, R2P, also needs to be enforced,if necessary, UN PEACE ENFORCING TEAM NEEDS TO BE DEPUTED,ASAP.

Crime of genocide against Myanmar junta are not going away, even awami stooges can not wash that off. All evidence are collected and stored far away from indian and Chinese reach. That is what Myanmay junta is gravely afraid of. US got Myanmar junta by neck, if they don't listen, they will have to live in Naypyidaw "dog house" for rest of their life or will even dragged to Hague. If Myanmar junta listens to US to get out of "dog house", Chinese dream in Myanmar will be in jeopardy. That is the current state of geo politics at high roller table.

USA has no power to take over Myanmar, this is not the first time that China vetoed in UNSC for Myanmar.

No one dares to touch Myanmar, no matter you like it or not.

The more you bark, the more veto will come to you.

If Chinese dream in Myanmar will be in jeopardy, what about BD's dream on this plant ?

.
We should demand the sustainable repatriation of the refugees. For that the full implementation of the Annan commission report is essential.

Bro, talk like this is not helpful.
I understand that there is a bigger game going on
but Myanmar has stepped away from civilisation
and into pure barbarism.
A solution needs to be worked out that restores the rights of Rohingyas as well as punishing the
genocidal maniacs that run Myanmar.

Burmese monkeys miscalculated..... this genocide has been recorded and sooner or later they will be answerable for it.

Chinese are seeking to protect their interest. They are not the cause of Burmese barbarity.

BD needs to recalibrate geostrategically towards US.

China will remain a major partner of Bangladesh no matter how much they support myanmar. We need to preserve the existing relation and work on to build new relation and partnership with western and muslim world plus Japan and S.Korea.We should maintain equal distance from China and India, not to fall into anyone's orbit.Get the trade and investment from both.In the meantime we need to foster a deep economic, defence, political and strategic relationship with USA.We need to learn from Singapore, Thailand, Japan and S.Korea.They are pro-western countries with vast economic relation with both China and India.

So Bangladesh is sending the Rohingya back to Myanmar where they will be killed.
Why should they be killed ? Rohingya want and deserve Burmese citizenship they have lived there for generations, why blaming Bangladesh for repatriating refugees, the killers who are killing should be condemned. Bangladesh is trying to resolve the crisis peacefully

Myanmar have officially stated that Rohingya are not Burmese citizens, they are considered foreign invaders. Myanmar refuses to even acknowledge the word "Rohingya", they call them Bengalis.

And since they are not Burmese citizens, but rather foreign invaders occupying Burmese land (in their view), the use of military force becomes not only justified, but correct.

Hasina knows this, and she knows by sending them back she is signing their death warrants.

Yeah, and tomorrow they will pass a new nationality law saying Rakhines are foreign invaders and start a new season of 'Myanmar genocide'.
