Rising stars: J-20 & T-50

T-50 is a cheap rip off of f22-
J-20 is an innovation- :smitten:-

Thats quite a stupid statement

Russians and other sources reporting J20 is old tech which uses Russian technology.

J20 reminds of of the Mig project in the Soviet era it looks like China had got some tech from Russia from this.

. . .
Don't know much about the J20 right now but i can see some MiG 1.44 resemblance which is over 20 year old design.

T-50 resembles F-22, does that mean T-50 design is more than 20 years old (F-22 was designed in late 80s) ???

And I was talking about tech and not just design my dear friend...

See if China was as advanced as Russia they would not still be making SU27 copies.

Douglas Barrie, an aerospace expert at the International Institute of Strategic Studies, noted that the J20's airframe resembled that of an abandoned Russian prototype, the MiG 1.42.

"I'm not sure that its even much of an impressive airframe," said Richard Aboulafia, another analyst. "It looks like something that might have been designed in 1985."

To me it looks bulky which is good for payload but the design looks very old.

Beijing has also struggled to develop the Shenyang J-15 carrier-borne jet, reverse-engineered from the Russian-made Sukhoi 33.

i appreciate the airframe of t-50, no comparison available between the two, because many crucial parameter of j-20 didnt release, like electric instrument, ram coating, construction material, only a few news regarding the engine ws-15, which is underdevelopment. personally i guess j-20 is inferior to f-22 and f-35, consider that China cant produce t1000 carbon fiber. i think f-35b is the best stealth fighter.

You are mixing too many things... Man, even Su-30,33,34,35,37 are copies of Su-27. China produced J-11 under an agreement with Russia, it is logical that China is developing its J-15 keeping its J-11 in mind..

yeah, its bulky and being bulky it is unusually awesome at aerodynamic as compared to its counterparts... It has extremely high alpha that makes it most stable and maneuverable aircraft to date...

Leave apart design theory as it is quite irrelevant...

Reverse engineered?? :woot:

Does PLAN operate Su-33??

Well design is a important aspect of a fighter for the simple matter of how aerodynamic it will be.
The agreement with Russia became void when China started to clone and reverse engineer SU27 copies thats why Russia did not want to sell China the SU33 in such low volume.

Still we can't judge J20 and T50 till another 5 years time but i'd pick the T50 over the J20 thats just my opinion.

Undoubtedly design is most important, what I meant there "old or new design" considering your allegations.

Yeah its pretty immature to say anything about capabilities of these two a/cs since both of them are in developmental phase .. But I'll bet on J-20 for too many reasons.

study of photographs of the aircraft by industry journal Aviation Week revealed the J20...
is a single seat, twin-engine aircraft.
is bigger and heavier than its Russian (Sukhoi T-50) and U.S. (F-22) equivalents.

is around 75ft long with a wingspan of 45ft

has landing gear that retracts into body-side bays, indicating the likely presence of F-22-style side weapons.

could be loaded with larger weapons including air-to-surface munitions because of the distance of its base from the ground.
likely weighs 75,000-80,000lb, with no external load, suggesting a generous fuel capacity.

is compatible with newly developed air-to-ground weapons revealed by Chinese engineers at the Zhuhai air show in November.

The Sukhoi T50...is currently being developed for the Russian Air Force by Moscow defence company Sukhoi.
had, by November 2010, made 40 test flights. The second prototype is due to start its flight test this year.
will replace the MiG-29 Fulcrum and Su-27 Flanker and directly compete with the F-22 Raptor.

is a one-seat twin engine stealth fighter.
is 65.9ft long with a wingspan of 46.6ft and stands 19.8ft high.
weighs 40,785lb when empty and 57,320lb fully loaded with a fuel capacity of 22,711lb.
has a top speed of Mach 2, 1,560mph.
does not yet have armaments but there is apparent provision for two 30mm cannons with two internal bays for guns and missile.

I think the roles of the fighter is also diffrent for China and Russia.

Russia will not sell them a few copies of the SU33 but Ukraine did so they are trying to make the J15 airframe from the SU33.

Bro there are no major differences between Su-27 and Su-33.. Su-33 is a carrier version of Su-27, both have similar characteristics except for arrestor hook, forward conard, folding wings, upgrading landing gears and probably some enhancement in engine.

Reverse engineering these features from Su-33!!!???
