Riot breaks out after Muslim barber refuses to shut shop on Tuesday

And is that happening?

As I have already stated, unfortunately it is not happening in any of the states.

My solution would be to make the police force totally independent of the legislative (autonomous) branch with oversight from Judiciary which could make some difference.

All the high profile cases in India have made progress only where the courts have taken control and started directing the police with no interference from the politicians.

A Muslim barber refused to shut shop “as per custom”, triggering a riot by indignant members of the Hindu community at Nelliyadi village, 70 km from Mangalore, in Karnataka on Tuesday. Though the violence was brought under control a few hours after it erupted around 4 pm, dozens of people were injured and property worth lakhs destroyed in the melee.

Bajrang Dal leader Ravi Ballya told HT that the trouble started when the barber, Salman, refused to “respect local sentiments” and keep his shop shut on Tuesdays. “It is well-known that Hindus don’t cut their hair on Tuesdays. Salman was initially a nice boy. He used to respect our wishes and close his shop then. But in the last few weeks, he stopped doing that because some PFI (Popular Front of India) leaders filled his head with poison,” Ballya said.

Thukrappa Shetty, the local Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader, had a similar story to tell. “Uday Kumar, the leader of the barbers’ association, went to Salman’s shop and politely asked him to shut shop. But Salman and some others abused him instead. It was a clear provocation. What happened next was a spontaneous reaction from local Hindus who had been hurt by their behaviour.”

According to Superintendent of Police Dr SD Sharanappa, a large mob led by Ballya then attacked Salman’s shop as well as other Muslim-owned establishments in the Nelliyadi Jumma Masjid complex. In retaliation, another mob led by the PFI simultaneously indulged in arson and vandalism.

Kempi Mustafa, the head of the local masjid, said this was not the first time Kumar and Ballya had stoked communal tension in the area. Alleging that both are accused in criminal cases, he said this was just the latest in a string of incidents aimed at disrupting the communal harmony of coastal Karnataka.

Though available on the phone, Ballya was reported absconding by the police.

Meanwhile, the situation continued to be tense in at least four villages near Nelliyadi – Kokkada, Patrame, Golithottu and Ballya. The police have so far arrested nine men from both communities, and imposed curfew in the area.

The coastal region of Karnataka has witnessed at least 153 incidents of communal violence since January this year.

Sitting in Aus some people have an amazing knack to pick up stories that may show India in poor light.

If Hindus do not cut hair on Tuesdays then what about the others who do-or the Hindus who don't care. India is on a path where Pakistan was in the 1980's. If India follows through with this Hinduization it will exactly be where Pakistan was 30 years ago. The secular fabric of the nation is being torn apart piece by piece. I have no hatred for Hindus but I do believe the Indian ones are being naive and focusing on imposing their religion-a problem with all fanatics while they should focus on development and growth. They are further emboldened by BJP in power.

Indian politicians and political parties playing very dangerous game will prove dangerous enough to cease their country's existence on the map of the earth. They are playing with fire for political goals but they fail to understand that religious sentiments can be ignited by single speech but you can't put out the fire with that. Once riots or anti minority hostilities rise enough it spreads like fire in jungle no body can put out this fire resulting a civil war which lasted for years will end on its own resulting millions of death and creating new entries on maps. History always repeat itself even many intellectuals knows these facts in India that is why they are protesting against Govt policies and returns their honors given by the state.

So ancient Indian surgeons are actually barbers? Only in India are these two professions related.

Actually Nayee Brahmins were professional thats why they are even called as Vaidya brahmins as they were linked to medical surgeries in ancient India and they were appointed as advisors by the Kings , They followed mostly Siddhar, ayurveda, and siddha to treat patients.

Where does the "US" comes in the context???? Do you live in India?

Agastya is one of the aryan saptarshis, a revered Vedic sage, and the earliest Siddhar. He is also believed to be the author of Agastya Samhita. The word is also written asAgasti and Agathiyar (Tamil: அகத்தியர்Agathiyar;[1]Telugu: అగస్త్య; Kannada: ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯ; Malayalam: അഗസ്ത്യ; Sanskrit: अगस्त्य; Malay: Anggasta; Thai: Akkhot).[1]Agathiyar(அகத்தியர்) in Thamizh means one who is focussed inward அகம் - அகத்து + இயர் = அகத்தியர் A-ga in Sanskrit means a mountain, and Asti means thrower.[2][2][3]Agastya is also the Indian astronomical name of the star of Canopus, is said to be the 'cleanser of waters', since its rising coincides with the calming of the waters of theIndian Ocean. He was son of Pulasthya, son of Brahma.

Interesting, said person had influence in Malaysia as well...

But they also cut hairs... It's just funny that they can perform a surgery and give a haircut at the same time.
