Riding on RMG, $37b export goal set for 2016-17

Seems like non-garments sectors aren't doing so badly. We need to reduce dependence on garments and we should do this as urgently as Modi's 'Make in India' campaign.

Here's a report about Bangladesh' major durable goods and electronics mfr. Walton. If this one single company is making 1.5 million fridges a year with their own compressors (mostly domestic consumption in Bangladesh), and Indians are producing a total of 8 Million a year (with a lot of imported components) for their own market then my hats are off to Walton and their customers. Provided the numbers are correct of course....(sources appear below).

Just to state, my intention is not to initiate a pissing contest with Indians, but credit is due where it is due. Bangladeshi mfrs. have done well considering where we were only a few years ago.

IMHO, Walton should step up their DUBAI export drive for penetrating African and Middle East markets for refrigerators and Aircons.

Great reports, best of luck to both countries.
