The Indian Army is likely to procure light strike vehicles (LSVs) specifically for its Parachute Battalions (Special Forces). An recent RFI issued in this regard says that the LSVs will be used as a fast attack vehicle for the Special Forces. It will also enhance the mobility and reach of the Special Forces in different types of hostile terrains.
The Army is keen to have these LSVs fitted with integral fire power systems. The Army has sought for a stable vehicle which can carry four persons (including the driver) in a full-combat mode, including personal weapon. The LSV must be configured to have stowage space for carrying communication sets, spare ammunition, water and fuel. The specs: 4.7m (length) x 2.1m (width) x 1.65 (height).

The RFI further states that the LSV must have hard points for a suitable weapon mount capable of firing a 7.62mm GPMG from co-driver’s seat (frontal arc). “The rear hard point must enable to mount either a MILAN anti tank guided missile launcher or a .50/12.7 HMG or an Automatic Grenade Launcher. The Army has also sought information on whether the LSV can be air portable\para droppable (AN-32, IL-76, MI17).

Liquid, the US has a completely different set of vehicles that are used as LSV's ...I guess it depends on the environment.....I know dune buggies are weaponized and mad rugged with the addition of shocks and special tires. Wouldn;t that be a better option than the British crap you howed in the first 3 pics?

I think this is more along the lines of what IA had in mind. The LSVs (AL/TATA/AXE) are part of the IA regular LSV procurement- completely different to IA SF requirement. And the Land Rovers are outdated and extremely flawed- in my country much has been made of "Snatch" Land Rover's shortcomings and vunabilites in Iraq and Afghan.

But the Army has Issued RFI for the following, I dont think there is any Pvt Indian vehicle which can full fill the requirement. DRDO or OFB or BEL is our only hope.

Last year IA conducted winter trials in Leh of 4 domestic LSV and it was for SF. This is official RFI.

Well that's the point- this is likely to be a foreign buy and I think, in this case, that is best. As Pvt companies are very new to this games and SOFs have only recently gained the autonmity and respect they deserve in India and I don't think any of these Pvt companies could provide a vehicle suited to their needs just yet. Whereas foreign companies have been producing such equipment that meet such niche and particular requirements for SFs around the world for years. Indian SFs deserve the best and shouldn't be at a disadvantage of Indian companies who have little idea pf what they are doing.

Width- 1.5m

Seems as though it's too big, RFI SPECS:
The specs: 4.7m (length) x 2.1m (width) x 1.65 (height).

It also depends on who responds to RFI- we can say this and that LSV but if, for whatever, reason they don't respond to RFI it is immaterial.
