We should revive this speech of Iqbal if we want Pakistan to survive.

Easier said than done, I''m reminded of this Indian poet, Amrita Pritam who commented:

Dharti tay lauu vasiya, kabraan paiyaan chown
Preet diyaan shahzadian, aj vich mazaraan rohn

Aj sab hi kaidoh ban gaye, husn ishq de chor
Aj kithon le aiye lab ke, Waris Shah ek hor?

We will need to go beyond Iqbal sahab and come up with new thoughts to fix Pakistan's messy situation. Also iqbal's thought process was too complex, to vast and ever changing. Thats why iqbal justifies Mullahs, Secularists, sectarianists, of all shapes and sizes.

We should infact follow one of his advises:

Utha saaqia parda iss raaz se, lara de mamoolay ko shahbaz se
Zamanay ke andaz badlay gaye, naya saaz hai raag badlay gaye
Khirad ko ghulami se azaad kar, jawanon ko peeron ka ustad kar

Revival of Allama Iqbal requires a revival of Urdu too which is a very sad thing.

Sorry to bust this myth of Iqbal.

We need statesmen which know how to establish and run state institutions.

The ROMANTIC BULL**** typically exhibited by all poets (iqbal was one of them) has no use in the real world.

All day long, we talk of leadership. We don't need leaders but STATESMEN.

Leaders inspire people towards something good or even bad but STATESMEN create STATE and its INSTITUTIONS which continue even after their death.

OTTO VON BISMARK was not a leader by any stretch of imagination but he crafted modern Germany which still stands high even after the disasters of the two world wars.

Get over this SEDUCTION by poets and orators.
