Revise ‘no-first-use’ n-policy: Jaswant

No need for this provocative move at this point when we have most things going in our favour at the world stage.

By doing this, we can show the world the mindset of our neighbors and claim its our neighbors actions who force our hand....Pull the line we rather focus on domestic development and taking care of the poor, but the rhetoric of our neighbors force us to spend unnecessarily.....

People in India are never taught hatred against China or even Pakistan... Unlike your country where its a part of curriculum.
India is not anti - China... and we also believe that China is no more anti- India.
A recent quote from Zintao's speech:
"There is enough space for China and India to exist and grow together "

"Never taught hatred against China and Pakistan" ??? You must have been living under a rock in the past. Indian media is the place where Indians learn to hate China and Pakistan. Everyday Indian Media bash China and Pakistan.

^^^ thats the whole philosophy of nuclear doctrine. with regards to pakistan, it will use nuclear weapons if its very existence is at stake or if it is about to lose a large chunk of land. if we r in winning osition we wont use nuclear weapons at the first instance. if they atrike first and hit our country, our response will certainly wipe out pakistan. nuclear weapons are always used as "offensive defence" and not "attacking" options.

with regards to china, in my opinion we wont engage china for quite some time. we will continue to down play incurrsions and continue to build up our military to match them.

so no first use against non nuclear state is more applicable to china.

What you think Pakistan is not thinking about this.....if it uses Nukes its going to use them in a way that lessens india's ability to counterattack.....thats why the increase in their Nuke arsenal.....they are going to go for the kill first strike and not allow India that option...

you are FULL OF IT !!!!

India's policy should be "No First use against non-nuclear armed country".

Exactly simple and to the point....allow the enemies to make any other reference without any solid proof.....India should not announce everything keep your enemy sweating....give them no concrete answer only maybe.......

.
Who says India will not use N-bomb first?
our government????
Dont believe them, they are wicked
They will cut loose all their arsenal on 3 rd day of war.:guns:

a slight change may be good from todays no first use policy to FIRST USE IF ATTACKED FROM BOTH FRONTS(pak n china ).

Calm down people....wars are evil and you break every rule in the book if there is a question of survival. I can bet on this that if our policy makers are convinced that enemy is preparing a nuke attack we will not sit and wait for nukes to reach our mainland. There is no reason to change anything and raise eye-brows. In fact this works pretty fine....You have a no-first use policy where you are giving a clear signal about your confidence in conventional strength. Enemy will not go for nuke strike thinking that we should otherwise they would and if god forbids we are in loosing state then however creepy it sounds but - Take down the Enemy with you....

which would mean that you have no confidence in your conventional strength and also if Pak and China decided to attack India they should ignore the conventional war and simply nuke us

Whats wrong with raising the enemies eyebrows....Why do we allow them to raise our heart beat and give us an heart attack. Why do sit so complacent? Haven't Indians learned anything about history....look at India's history not anyone's else. India has only gotten attacked all these years.......and thought some may say the world recognizes, it is simply not the case. They look at us like as if we are weak.....thats why some make every effort to antagonize us. Time to wake up the TIGER....and allow it to ROAR

I agree with Jaswant to some extent. This policy is a joke. It is like having a deterrence and still not having it. IMO it would be better to get something like the Israeli version of the SAMSON Option as a last resort where any land grab attempts that are deemed conventionally unrecoverable would be met with nuclear response.

Even this is a deterrent but a more aggressively defensive doctrine. We must be too dangerous to be bothered.

How about you point out one damn school book and tell me where the hatred is taught. Media is free to do anything (albeit a little too free IMO). But yes, Media can talk and it raises serious issues vis a vis the two countries. What do you expect when there are numerous clashes taking place between the 3 countries? A rain of roses?

Having or not having a no 1st use policy does in no way way come in the way of its use be it 1st or 2nd.

And just coz Jaswant singh says so it need not happen.

i guess a two front war would be hard to defend.

1)in case in india china war india can defend china.if pakistan tries to grab this opportunity to attack us america will be enough to keep pakistan at home.

2)in indo pak war and what if china take a chance ?
there is a limit to american pressure to china and american may not risk an attack on china because they will also get hurt.
what you say ?
