Personally, I think ASEAN should not only include major powers like the US and Russia, but should also invite other countries from Africa, Middle-East, Europe and South America to become partners.

ASEAN have already include European Union as full dialogue partner in ASEAN +10 mechanism: EU, Canada, United States, China, Russia, Australia, Japan, Korea, India and New Zealand. Pakistan also included but only as sectoral partner. And as we know, Turkey has also reiterated its strong desire to become a full dialogue partner of ASEAN recently.

Before the US was involved in ASEAN + 3, there was a lot progression and cooperation. In fact, the so called "Asian unity" was established and progress quite well. Then suddenly the US bug their nose into the framework, then it becomes platform for competition rather than cooperation. In fact, had EU allow the US to put their nose inside during their formation, today EU will never become a unified bloc. Take our advice seriously. The one with the most interest to see Asia prosper are the one close by, not some one thousand of miles away across the Pacific.

Current ASEAN dialogue partners will certainly stay as we are now having a very good and constructive relation with all of them. ASEAN have many mechnism to deal and cooperate with its dialogue partners. Yes, we have expanded our full partnership with no less then 10 countries, yet the old mechnism is still there. We still have ASEAN +3 forum to deal exclusively with Japan, China and Korea. But we also have East Asia Summit to deal with ASEAN +8. We certainly won't try to fix something that isn't broken.

ASEAN and China is all about trust and mutual development. Which is good.

This is what we all hope for, and this condition reflected quite well with the continuous growth on trade balance between ASEAN and it's dialogue partners including China.

There r 2 important locations in Asia : Malacca strait and SCS(east sea). Malacca strait is under US's control but it can be replaced by Kra canal in Thailand. SCS(east sea) is under VN control and there is no alternative route to replace.

VN fought very hard to beat US and take control of SCS(east sea), thats why US need VN to join TPP, and US have to share the benefit from TPP wt VN (while greedy US wont share wt anyone else).
