Highlights

433 undocumented Afghans returned from Pakistan

Return from Pakistan

A total of 433 undocumented Afghans spontaneously returned or were deported from Pakistan through the Turkham (Nangarhar) and Spin Boldak (Kandahar) border crossings from 14—20 Jan 2018, according to the Border Monitoring Team of the Directorate of Refugees and Repatriation (DoRR).

Of the total returnees, 356 were spontaneous returnees and 79 were deported.
This number marks a 37 % increase compared to the previous week (315). The total number of undocumented Afghan returnees from Pakistan since 01 January 2018 is now 1,173. IOM provided post-arrival assistance to 84% of undocumented Afghan returnees from Pakistan (365 individuals), including 217 individuals in poor families, 122 individuals in Single Parent families (SP), 21 special cases (SC) and 5 Unaccompanied Migrant Children (UAM). We hosted them for 35-40 years India can take care of their Kharcha Pani for 2-3 years

If true good, but there are a huge number of undocumented Afghans living in Pakistan.

Look at the difference between Iran and Pakistan:

• 433 undocumented Afghans returned from Pakistan
• 9,651 undocumented Afghans returned from Iran

Iran has repatriated 30 times more Afghan refugees in January than Pakistan

• 1,173 total returns from Pakistan since 01 Jan 2018
• 30,410 total returns from Iran since 01 Jan 2018

At this rate, Pakistan would only repatriate 14,076 Afghan refugees by the end of 2018. What a joke.

Most probably came back which is why a fence is needed.
