'Restricted UNSC prevents small nations' voice to be heard'

But at one point we finally said, enough is enough, it's time for us to become strong ourselves if we want to ensure our own safety and our own sovereignty.

The world isn't going to change for us. We need to change ourselves to have any chance.

Not all countries have the potential of China. Look at Japan, their economy is stronger than all European countries, but they are not a part of UNSC, same as India.

And out of those 185 nations, how many reject the leadership of "America world police"?

Not many. Only a handful even.

As long as the vast majority of "hard power" (economic/military power) in the world lies with the P5 and their allies (NATO for example), the others will follow. Until they stop following, then nothing can change.

Well, that's the bitter truth, unfortunately.

Japan's economic and manufacturing power meant they could easily have become a great power in their own right.

One problem of course, their constitution was written by Americans. Written so that Japan could not have an army (they have "defense forces"), and written so that Japan would find it nearly impossible to amend their own constitution.

In fact their constitution has not been amended once, not once since it was written in 1945. Which is exactly what the authors intended when they set the requirements for it.

Now America says, we hate Russia now, sanction them! And well...

Japan Announces New Russia Sanctions - WSJ

Even though Japan wanted to improve relations with Russia, well they didn't really have a choice in that situation.

This is why I've admired Iran for a good long time. They refused to follow the orders of the sole superpower America, despite the disparity in terms of hard power.

Right now the West rules because they stick together. The only option for the rest is to keep our heads down and work, work until we are strong enough to ensure our sovereignty.

Agreed, the only solution to bullying policy of U.S is to become so powerful that, if they want to hurt you, economically or militarily, they'd be hurt themselves and their allies too. Like China. If they want to put sanctions on China, guess who is also going to lose the most economically? Hundreds of not thousands of western companies. And militarily, you have to be powerful enough so that they don't every want to 'try' military force on you.

As for Japan, it's a sad reality. They are a great country, with great potential and culture, but U.S still has enormous influence in there. It's up to Japanese people to decide, either keep this status quo or try for a change. They did a mistake 70 years ago, they don't have to pay for that for eternity. Has U.S everr paid for decades of barbarism and bullying? Hell no they haven't.

India seems to be firing a lot of shots over how "unfair" the UNSC is, does that mean they will retract their official request to become a permanent member of the UNSC?

Or do they just want that "unfair" power for themselves too?
Come on man. Dont be naive, since when do countries care about others(smaller insignificant ones for that matter.lol)? India is rightly looking after its interests/playing politics. Its an obvious game we know very well. Nothing to hide that we dont already know/havent done long time ago:) . I dont blame india though, if i was the one, i will do the same thing.:enjoy:

No We want to represent the underrepresented in the UNSC so the question is not of fair or unfair but of representation.

Among one of few positive actions of Hitler, was turning 'Great Britain' into 'Little Britain', which was great only in name after WWII. He did for the world a great service by clipping Britain's wings all over the world. :D

Well he only fast forwarded the inevitable to be honest. We would have had to give back our many colonies (dont remember if iran was among) one day or another, there is no way we could have kept them FOREVER, they were bound to be independent back one day.

Anyway even today we still have many overseas terriroties far away from our home soil and military bases abroad from Diego Garcia in Indian ocean to cyprus to falkland islands in carribean/S.America etc etc. Which we still patrol(our upcoming massive 2 elizabeth class carriers will make it even more interesting for our power projection in the world, iran needs a century to even ever dream of building such a ship.lol), We are still a permamnent member of UNSC sonething other developing countries can only keep dreaming/ranting about lol, our language is the worlds language which gives us much more influence all over the world, our educational system/universities are the best in the world second only to the U.S (many hundreds of thousands of your youth flee your mullahs to come study/live a more civilized and better life here), many of the worlds commercial and military planes relies on our rols royce engines to fly(something countries like islamic iran will need a century at least to build one if ever.lol Even the chinese struggling here), our finacial/banking institutions are world class, we have one of the only three semi conductor and software design companies in the world(ARM) through which most smartphones companies chipset designs are based (the phone you use probably has our tech in it.lol), our consulting/design industries and companies are world leaders(we design stuffs all over the world from Asia to africa to the americas), our small island of 50 million people with barely any resources has a larger GDP than mighty russia despite all its resources and size(which means the average british is farrrrr more productive than the average russian by far. Im not even talking about 90 million strong iran which produces noting at all which is competitive in the world apart from oil and gas God gave you.lol).i can go on and on.......etc .

In short if we are small/insignificant then means iran is not even on planet earth. LMAO. So when you wnat to make fun of a country , at least be sure you are more advacned/developed than them, else it will be like Yemen making fun of Iran.

Really?

If you were part of the P5 will you still be saying the same thing? :cheesy: I have a strong feeling that NO .

As i said, you are merely looking after your interests by trying to get in by ALL MEANS , which is normal, as every country looks after their own interests, but India shouldnt try and frame it as if you care about small poor developing countries, nobody is a fool here bro. :coffee:

In order to change the "5 power" system, you need to reform the UN charter.

And guess what you need to reform the UN charter? You need the support of 2/3 of the General Assembly (easy), but more importantly, you need the support of EVERY SINGLE P5 member. This is how the UN charter was written.

From the official UN website:

Charter of the United Nations: Chapter XVIII: Amendments

Article 108:

Amendments to the present Charter shall come into force for all Members of the United Nations when they have been adopted by a vote of two thirds of the members of the General Assembly and ratified in accordance with their respective constitutional processes by two thirds of the Members of the United Nations, including ALL the permanent members of the Security Council.

----------------------------

So basically it is never going to change. Since the 5 permanent members will never ALL agree to give up their veto power. Even if 1 doesn't agree then it can't move forward (and you can bet there will be more than 1).

The only way around this is to create another organization to rival the United Nations. And no one currently has the clout to do that except America, who are interested in creating something called a "Concert of Democracies" or some such. If they leave the UN and get all their friends to leave the UN that might work.

China and Russia have created the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, but that is just a mutual cooperation organization, it's not meant to compete with the UNSC.

But the so called stipl didnt anticipiated the growth of other nations .Within one five years a developing nation India will have more capacity than other three in P5 except US and China
.And that is just a start then others like Brazil or Indonesia ,Japan will follow the same path.
Japan and Germany already have that capability .All they need is weapons and nuke.Same also happens in the case of
Iran.
And the UN and P5 will become useless if they continue like this.

The P5 and their allies control virtually all of the economic/military power on Earth.

Hell, just the USA and their allies alone, are more powerful than what all the non-UNSC members could come up with combined.

Not P5 and allies .Only US and allies because Russia and China is on their own.
UK and France is just a shadow of US.
But India ,Iran etc are not likethat.
When the pressure of these developing nation increases the so called P5 will become just another organization.

Might is alwags right.
India will continue this growth , to a point that the diktat of the UN will become ineffective. That will happen within one decade.
Other nations will also follow us.
What is the uses of these P5 when an outside nation has more power than that .?
