Response to Press TV news: Pakistan Jets Bombing Afghan Check Posts

This would not be the first, or the last time that the Iranian state run news agency Press TV has reported false information. We have seen no credible sources corroborating this report, and would caution readers to be skeptical, rather than react hysterically.

The US has no interest in inflaming border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan – on the contrary, we have worked aggressively to increase cooperation between NATO, Afghanistan and Pakistan in these areas that are routinely exploited by the Taliban. We respect the sovereignty of Pakistan and recognize its efforts in the War on Terror (WOT). General Kiyani has spelled out his terms for possible operations in North Waziristan, and we, as loyal allies to the great nation of Pakistan, have acknowledged his plans. Pakistan is our strategic partner against a terrorism which plagues its streets every day. It is time to accept the fact that it is not US, but these extremists who are against the Pakistani Army, government and people. Just a couple of days ago these terrorists used a bomb blast in Peshawar to kill nine, including 5 children and wound 23 people among which there were children as young as 4.

When will some people wake up, realize this lingering threat and stop playing the blame game? Is turning a blind eye to these atrocities and indulging in conspiracy theories protecting our children from these suicide attacks?

mehru there is a detailed thread on press TV claiming false things and also naming Afghan official.

I must say that Press TV can not be trusted even for anti-US reports.

I have observed for a long time. Press TV usually rewrite news on its sites with inclusion of false details in it

Question is, why would Iranian state run Press TV report such a story? Which could potentially malign and stir up hatred against Pakistan. Or is it they actually believed the story to be true.

I hope Press TV acknowledges their mistake and states an apology, reporting something like this is serious and dangerous and to be wrong about it is blameworthy.

PressTV always wants things to appear much worse than they are, and one must remember that it is mainly for domestic consumption by Iranians. What's odd, though, is that the Taliban/TTP and Iran are definitely enemies. So you'd think Iran would be rooting for the destruction of Taliban.

Iran believes Pakistan wants to eventually reinstall Taliban in Afghanistan, and Iran doesn't want that.

Iran and India cooperated in Afghanstan against Pakistan.

It is yet another idiocy of GOP that we ignored the effect on Iran when deciding our Afghanistan strategy after Soviet withdrawal.
