Kwid is doing pretty good in India...Seems, Renault has found the right pulse of markets like ours...

Why would a Japanese auto maker help/promote/support a western automaker ever, unless it was an outright acquisition?

that auto-maker could have expanded too. just look at VW of Germany, the groups holds Audi, Bentley etc. as well.

They are among the best car makers and Suzuki makes very good cars in India. I am unable to understand why can't they make equally good cars for pakistani market as well?

Because of Suzuki's influence on Pakistan auto industry? They are against competitions. Suzuki is failing everywhere regardless of their reliability rating. Only few nations Suzuki rely on might be no longer the case.

great...
now emiratis will take advantage of pakistan's retarded auto sector.
Yup. Let us shut them before they start. That will teach them a lesson for daring to invest in Pakistan. We can not give our market to just anyone. We will suffer high unemployment, low growth, stagnant markets, but we will not allow anyone to invest in Pakistan because they actually might earn something from Pakistan - Ohhh... the horror of it all.

Pakistani businessmen want the cake and eat it too, they refuse to invest and upgrade, so we have cars that were designed for the 70s

Renault's decision will depend on their business plan and the bottom line showing a return on their investment versus the risks, plain and simple.

Duster is from Dacia Romanian, a plant which Renault bought.
It doesn't have automatic transmission and it cost around 1.2million PKR in Europe.
Dacia is not bad, I think it's perfect for Pakistani roads
but
Thing is how much it would cost in Pakistan, where Suzuki Mehran has touched 0.8 million PKR

My bad, have just checked Mehran price :o:
Mehran VXR CNG Rs. 802,000/- *
Note : * Add Rs. 7,500/- being advance income tax for filer
* Add Rs. 10,000/- being advance income tax for non-filer

Actually, the Duster is sold with an automatic transmission
since last year but it gets the topnotch Renault EDC which
brings the price up by 1 300 € on any of the models.

As for price, using the French main market, 18 to 19 000 €
for the EDC equipped diesel versions ( 5,5 l per 100 km ).

Your govt allowed multiple companies and there you got competition
In Pakistan, they found way to block incoming auto investors through bribing in govt circles. Check Suzuki prices in my last post link and you will find why Pakistanis hate Japanese auto industry now, but then they have no choice.

Who says they make bad cars in Pakistan? Their cars are ok when it comes to the price they charge to customers..

I had a Suzuki Cultus and never experienced any problem in the whole period of 5 years I kept it. Just a battery problem twice when it refused to start.. then one day I forgot to tighten the cap on its radiator, but even then it didn't require any repair as such..

Anyway, I am also a careful driver and avoid speeding on broken roads..
